Can you feel it? That shiver that comes and goes in a matter of few seconds, bringing that unsettling feeling that takes root deep in your gut? Like if you knew something was wrong. Like if there was /something/ that didnt belong. It comes creeping when you are the most vulnerable. Either when you're surrounded by half-darkness deep underground. Where no one would hear you. Or when a fog surrounds you, hiding the wrongness away. But you can still sense its presence. Dont you? Noor whipped his head back, his eyes flickering from side to side, trying his best to see or hear anything beyond the thick fog. His heart raced as he turned back onto the path infront of him. He went here so many times. Readjusting his grip on redstone he carried, he resumed in his tracks. Despite the terror he felt, he pressed on. He nearly jumped when he heard a soft crack of a twig and then footsteps behind him on gravel. He added to his speed. The footsteps seemed closer. And closer. Noor dropped the red dust and sprinted off. His breath came short, his heart racing more than his feet. He couldnt see anything infront of him. Where is their house? Where is the comforting light and where is everyone else? He panted, panic stopping him from thinking clearly. There was something behind him. Something chasing him. He was terrified, he could feel its presence. He could hear the too loud silence. And then... Something touched his arm. It was a light touch, but that alone made Noor shriek and fall to his knees. He turned around shielding himself with his hands. Oh Notch, it got him, it got him, it got him... "Noor? Are... you okay?" He looked up at the figure. It took him few seconds to realize it was Steve. His friend was holding the redstone he dropped before, and was looking at him with deep concern. Noor breathed a sigh of relief, placing a hand over his still racing heart. The feeling of dread slowly dissapeared as he took Steve's outstretched hand that yanked him to his feet. "I'm fine, /now/ atleast," he assured, taking the lowly glimmering dust. "...Why were you running like that?" Noor glanced sideways, feeling dumb out of all suden. "I just... thought something was chasing me" "Oh." Steve blinked, before offering a small, nervous smile. "...Sorry, that must have been me. I saw you going back from the mines close by from where I've been chopping some wood and I thought I could catch up and go with you...didnt mean to scare you!" Noor stared at Steve before patting him on his shoulder. "Dude, next time just call to the person. And dont creep up from behind so silently, mainly when there's fog." Steve grimaced apologetically, before the two of them went home side by side, joking about how thats another story to their adventures. But you know that the presence never left. It just got overshadowed with feeling of safety. ... That often blinds us from seeing the truth. Right, Hero?
