Landscape and Climate An uneven plain with small bumpy hills and several small streams. The territory is dotted with scraggly bushes and large trees. On the tri-border that they share with both other clans, they have a small stretch of forest that they do not usually hunt in unless prey is scarce. iii. Camp A large stream runs into a cavern that serves as their camp, filled with lush plants and moss on the walls. There are three caves; the first is a large cavern where most of the cats live. The youngest cats are closest to the front (so the order is nursery > apprentices > warriors > elders), and in the center, above the entrance to the second cave, is a ledge where the leader addresses the clans. An alcove indented in the wall above the ledge is where the leader sleeps and discusses private matters. Below the Leader-ledge is the entrance to a tunnel that splits into two caves. On the left is the medicine den, keeping the injured and sick cats privately confined until they are better; and the third is the Starcave. There is a hole in the ceiling that shines into pools on the uneven floor. Here they can present newborn kits or recently promoted cats to Starclan, but medics usuallly travel to Starfalls with the other clans if they need to share with their ancestors. iv. Predators and Prey Cats in Briarclan have a staple food of rabbits and other small creatures in the meadows, which are plentiful in their territory. Sometimes they can go the sparse areas of trees and hunt larger birds who are in search of rabbits themselves, and close to their camp is a good area for mouse nests. Unfortunately, foxes also hunt these animals and will sometimes stray from the forest in search of food. v. Customs Starcave - Unlike other clans, Briarclan has a way to meet with Starclan from their camp. The Starcave is not a place to regularly share with their ancestors, but as soon as kits' eyes open, they are taken there to be presented to Starclan. A medic must be present during this ceremony, because Starclan will use this time to share hints of this kit's life. Newly made apprentices, warriors, land deputies come here right before they are announced, to see if Starlan approves. Day of hunger and Day of plenty - On the longest day of the year, Briarclan cats catch as much prey as they can, most warriors staying out all day. At the end of the day, they have a huge feast and present their success to Starclan. The day before, no cat may eat except for queens and any cat under 4 moons or above 104 moons. Any able cat who does not hunt has last pick of prey for the feast. Any cat caught stealing prey before the feast, on either of these days, will have the lowest prey priority for the next quarter-moon and may face temporary banishment. Moon blessings - Some nights the moon lights up the pools on the floor, creating a blinding light in the Starcave. If a kit is born on a night like this, they are thought to be "touched by Starclan" and will be apprenticed at five moons old. * Sometimes only some kits in a litter have this blessing; if a queen is kitting all night, only the ones born during this time have it. If a cat d on one of these nights, their body will be left in the Starcave for 24 hours before the vigil. *This will be rolled for when you are born. vi. Briarclan cat overview A cat from Briarclan is wiry and strong, with powerful back legs to race after rabbits for long periods. They are exceptionally fast but have a high metabolism, so cats from this clan will need to hunt more often to keep up. vii. Extra
