╔═*.·:·.✧ ✦ ✧.·:·.*═╗ ❝ a pill-bug phenomenon ❞ ╰┈➤ mothy species shuffle srp **•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚**•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚* Peppered-mothsnap grimaced at the odd piece of prey in front of it. A squirrel, who looked like it ate some sort of poison mushroom that her mother always told her about in stories. However, the creature was limber as ever when it pounced and took its life— not lethargic like other sickly prey it had hunted over its pawful of moons as a warrior. Mothy was never raised to waste good(?) prey, so she reluctantly took a bite of the odd-furred creature. It tasted… normal. Completely ordinary. Weren’t these things intended to have some kind of catch? A trick? When was she going to start seeing bright fractals of colors? Or turn into a worm? Perhaps the trick was that it was a red herring, a distraction from other things— maybe a bit of whimsy inflicted by some apprentices with berry juice to help shatter the still paranoia from the war? It simply shrugged it off, and paced back to its den to catch some rest. Even in the presence of purple squirrels who looked like they crawled out of a nursery tale and into her paws, duty still persisted, and she needed optimal energy to perform these duties. It awoke the next morning and opened its eyes. She immediately shut them again. Just one of those odd dreams, it presumed. After all, there was no way Daybreakstar would let an entire menagerie of other species into Cavernclan. Maybe the squirrel /had/ caused it to start seeing things, haha! Haha… Ha…? Mothy opened its eyes oncemore to get a closer look. First off— why was she so short? It knew it was small, but this was absurd. Did it suddenly have a mouse’s eyes? She shook it off. More important things to worry about. It was probably just tired. It got up, and dangling in its front view… Little dangly things? She looked up for any tangles of vines, and— she could see the entire ceiling of the cave? Sure, Caverncats had night vision, but Peppered-mothsnap’s eyesight was not /that/ good. Something was awry, it knew it. It began to walk and nearly fell over in fear as it looked at the ground and glimpsed 2 more paws emerging from its chest. What was happening? Panicked, Peppered-moth ran to a puddle of water in the corner of camp and stared at her own reflection. 2 (only 2?) eyes stared up at her, antennae dangling in front of her face. It outstretched one of the chest paws, and it worked just as if it was a usual paw. One of her own 4 paws… or, it guessed, 6 paws now, now devoid of their typical stonecutters. This had to be a dream. There was no way that even this island, with all its fantastical creatures, could have such a peculiar occurrence. It dipped its paw into the chill of the water. Just to check what she knew was already true. Mothy was shocked as it pulled back its paw, to escape the painful frigidity of the pool. So, this was real? Cruel joke. It let out a few concerned chuckles, trying to laugh off the instance, before simply returning to the den to try and see if it could just sleep this off. Peppered-mothsnap was going to be quite shocked when they woke up, and no change occurred. It’ll cope. At least, until the squirrel has had its course. Maybe them everything would return back to normal. **•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚**•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚˚*•̩̩͙✧•̩̩͙*˚* she be a buggy now anyways I’m still workshopping her bugcat design so i’ll add that soon she is a whopping 6. inches. 6 inches tall. you thought it couldn't get any shorter?
