click or space bar. for screenreaders: INTRODUCTION Hi! My name is Céline, formerly known as Angelo on the account tartarusboyy. I use he/him pronouns. I have been a part of DBD off and on since it gained popularity after GWDFI’s closure. I would say my activity is a 9/10, however, I have taken breaks. My time zone is EST, and I am active on Scratch daily. My most active hours on weekdays are 6:30AM-7:45AM, 11AM-1PM, and 3PM-1AM. (All EST.) I am 15, nearly 16, years old. I do not have any prior experience in management of chatrooms, but I have been on Scratch for nearly 10 years, and on Scratch chatrooms for 4 years. WHY APPLY? I am applying to be a manager because I feel that I am a very active member of DBD, and the Scratch community in general. I try my best to be a friendly presence that people can rely on and to be someone who is there for you. If I were to have a “goal” as a manager of DBD, I think it would be something along the lines of resolving conflict in a faster and more efficient manner. I know that’s something that is easier said than done, but I think with enough compliancy from both curators and managers during conflict, it can be done. I also think that we could use some fun activities for the studio, and I have quite a few ideas. WHY WOULD YOU BE A GOOD FIT? I believe I would be a good manager because I have been in the Scratch chatroom community for so many years. I have experience with multiple conflicts and types of conflict. As I said earlier, I also try to be someone that people can rely on and trust. I am active as much as possible, and even if I’m not actively commenting, I am often looking over the studio. I also like to believe that I am good at helping to resolve conflict. I’m not perfect at it by any means, but I have de-escalated quite a few situations both on and off of Scratch. WHY WOULD YOU NOT BE A GOOD FIT? I have a few mental disorders that cause me issues at times, but my main issue on Scratch is my anxiety and panic disorder. I frequently fall into fits of believing people secretly hate me. I am also not very close with a majority of people on DBD, though I would love for that to change. I definitely hold grudges against people that have wronged me or my friends. I also accidentally break a rule every now and then, but I always reread them afterwards. I have school and a job. I am very active, but sometimes I just can’t be online. IMPROVEMENT IDEAS! I believe that DBD has issues with handling conflict maturely. I feel that managers need to encourage curators (and sometimes themselves!) to speak with each other off of the studio to resolve conflict. There are scenarios where not everyone needs to be involved, and a lot of conflict on DBD could be resolved by handling it between two people off of the studio. And as much as I hate to say it, I do think we need a system that is similar to the Gaehive’s rule 6. I have seen many people on DBD who have been put in uncomfortable situations by trolls only for the trolls to get off with a small warning if they don’t end up banned. Even some users who are not trolls make a majority of the studio uncomfortable, and I’m not sure why nothing has been done about them. MY THOUGHTS I think that some good managers would be: They have all been consistently kind and helpful to me and many others, and I think that they would make amazing managers. Thank you for taking the time to read through my application! I appreciate your consideration and time.
