Despite his friendliness, other bots often shun him and view him as an outcast due to his seemingly useless alternate mode. In reality, Rung’s alternate mode is the powerful super-computer known as Vector Sigma. Aside from holding a vast amount of knowledge, Vector Sigma’s abilities include converting anything into Cybermatter. Rung did not know he had these powers because his mind had been previously wiped by Alpha Trion, and the key which unlocked his power was taken. However, it has since fallen into Megatron’s hands, though he believed it was only a relic from Cybertron’s past and wouldn’t know about its true purpose until much later. When Rung’s true nature was discovered by the Senate, they immediately hired Lockdown to capture Rung and retrieve the key so that they could use Vector Sigma’s powers for themselves.
