Sir Isaac Newton- A Biography His Childhood Sir Isaac Newton had an interesting life, starting with his childhood. Newton never knew his father, due to the fact that he died 3 months before his birth. At age three, his mother left him with his grandmother. Ironically, at school, he was not a very good student, but later, he excelled. He was very interested in mechanics, creating models of many things. At 17, his mom attempted to make him into a farmer like his dad, but he preferred to read and study. His Early Adulthood Newton attended the Trinity College of Cambridge, studying day and night, so interested in his studies that he often forgot to eat. During the plague in 1665, he dropped out of his school. Nonetheless, he continued studying in the comfort of his own home. When the plague ended in 1667, he returned and was elected a minor fellow at his college, earning him an important status at his school. A year later, his status was increased to major fellow. He kept this status for 34 years before resigning. A Life Changing Discovery In 1665, Sir Isaac Newton was studying underneath an apple tree. He noticed an apple that fell from a branch, and it sparked his curiosity. What caused this to happen? He did many experiments, and discovered gravity. This was what kept us to the ground, and what kept the moon in orbit, and this discovery sparked the creation of the three laws of motion. This led to many years of attempting to prove his theories. After the Discovery Sir Isaac Newton's life kept getting better from that point. He became a member of the Parliament, served as Warden in the Royal Mint, and many more discoveries and accomplishments. One of his biggest honors was being knighted by the queen in 1705, creating a big title, even more than it already was. Even though it seems he would have won a Nobel Prize, he died 170 years before its creation! On the fateful night of March 31, 1727, Sir Isaac died in his sleep, ending his long and successful life.
