- - - I recently decided to enter Caramel in two Show Jumping competitions so all of today I decided to prepare him for the events. First I took him for a nice trail ride just to warm him up for the show and start with something easy. We walked through the trail at a steady pace as well as jumping over whatever obstacles we came across. He did well and got spooked once from a rabbit that raced across our path but was fine the rest of the way. Then, I took Caramel over to a pasture where we worked on basic commands like cantering, trotting and galloping so that we could refresh on his obedience. He wasn't too obedient at first but ended on a much better not when we were done. Finally, I took out some jumping sets that I'd left in storage so that he could practice his jumping skills. We worked on this most of all, and Caramel really seemed to enjoy it. He did best of all in this excercise and could jump over the obstacles with ease.
