no the name is not just naming. It’s what it does, it makes noise. The noisemaker class is a mine-clearing ship FOR acoustic mines ONLY the noisemaker makes a very very very high pitch whistle noise under water to detonate mines from a safe distance. Don’t get under it, pray it doesn’t come over your sub or it will defen you. This is one of are solutions to solving legacy mine feilds. In stead of sonar it uses lidar so it’s silent and can see mines better. Though it has a towable sonar to see subs and escape. In stead fourth heg-hogs and all that as i said it uses sound (why its called the noisemaker class) its a ultrasonic acoustic sound maker that sits under the hull or inside it facing downward and forward.
