Republic of Japan 調和, 純度, 団結 (Harmony, Purity, Unity) --- Press Space/Click to Change Slides Flag on the Last Slide --- [-] Flag Design Choices [-] Since this flag represents a new, western-lead Japan, the flag of the Rising Sun would most likely have been scrapped by the Allies. As a replacement, the Imperial Seal of Japan would have been used in order to keep pre-war loyalty and remove dissent from the Japanese public, as this seal (the Chrysanthemum) was used during WW2 to represent the Emperor, National Unity, as well as the Imperial Family. This would allow the Japanese public to rally under the Emperor, which was of course subject to control under the Allied Powers. The phrases "調和, 純度, 団結 (Harmony, Purity, Unity)" are traditional Japanese values that were utilized by the Americans to keep Japan unified. Nostalgic phrases combined with a new meaning kept citizens loyal with a new cause in mind. The colors of Yellow and Red symbolize passion, a rejection of evil, as well as courage among many things. These colors are traditional to Japan, and represent both a pre- and post- imperial Japan. --- Credits: Battotai - Japanese Imperial Army March
