BASIC . 5000s (allegedly) . Humanity lives in a crammed existence within small, isolated districts to escape a lethal wasteland. . There is no monetary wealth or class; housing and jobs are assigned by a central Council. Wealth is defined by power and knowledge, held primarily by those who run the districts and scientific facilities. There /is/ money, everyone is given enough to get by. If they do well at their job, they get more, if they do worse, then they get less. . Life is highly regulated. Addresses follow strict codes (ABCD-12345), and everyone is assigned a partner [if they apply for it] and a home upon turning 18. DISTRICT DIFFERENCES District 1 . Plant-based diets . Cleaner air . Only district that is known to have plants . Most common sightings of the 'angels' District 2 . Diets of unseasoned meats . People are known to be more well-fed here District 3 . Main source of fish [they're mass-bred and disease-ridden, but everyone's bodies are so used to it at this point that it is not an issue] . Diets are usually fish District 4 . Tends to eat spicy foods, so spicy that others moving there can have some issues adjusting . Healthiest out of the other districts District 5 . 'Sweet' foods are usually produced and eaten here . The sweet is /subjectively/ sweet. It's actually incredibly bland, yet everyone is so used to that so it seems different District 6 . This district will usually have a mushroom-based diet! . People living here would grow the mushrooms on their bodies- it feeds from their flesh. Doesn't hurt once you're used to it. . The air is usually incredibly thick with spores . People here tend to have a constant hacking due to the spores, and the fungi growing . The fungi can affect their organs, leading to that being the main cause of death as the mushrooms take over the body. It's advised to stay away from large patches of mushrooms for this reason, as that is likely a graveyard. District 7 . Heavily liquid-based diet . Their diet genuinely scares other districts. They don't get many visits . People here tend to be eerily thin. CULTURE Family / Friends . Family ties are viewed as obstacles . Friends are.. okay, usually. Just don't get too attached, people die every day. Work . Residents work six days a week with only 52 days off per year . Turning 18 allows one to join a facility or be assigned a job Entities . These beings are usually physical manifestations of human trauma (past, present, or future) . They are occasionally tamed as pets . If a human becomes an entity, killing them is considered lawful as they are no longer "human" District assignments . Each person is assigned to a district. You can /attempt/ to move districts, but this is usually ignored . Each person has their birth district branded onto their left calf . You can live outside the districts, but it's advised not to. Rules are there for a reason. PLANTS Lemons . Highly corrosive . Can disintegrate guts if eaten but melts infection from wounds Oranges . Tough shell like a pomegranate . The inside is a drinkable slush that prevents early childhood diseases Watermelon . Tough, stringy, and bitter . Usually dried and eaten like jerky OTHER Outside . Outside the safety of the districts, the land is burnt, filled with dangerous entities, and plagued by unrealistic, lethal diseases. . Do NOT go there. Rules are in place for a reason, remember that. Atmosphere . Rather hot usually . The air is very stuffy and polluted, usually has a mild fog to it Resources . Wood and trees are non-existent, and plants are only grown in little greenhouses, mainly in District 1 . The water is so polluted that it is used to burn instead of wood- and hey, then you get somewhat clean water as well! Healthcare . Healthcare is a lottery system, though serious conditions like Nerve Poppies or Snakeskin are prioritized. . Usually, if you're sick, it's better to accept death
