Some quick TWs: General discussion of US politics, ICE, homoph0bia, and r4cism I’m not here to educate people on what’s going on in my country right now, because I honestly don’t know everything. This is semi a vent, semi asking for help? I’m not really sure, I just need to say something right now. I was taught in school my entire childhood, that America is a country where everyone is welcome. I was taught that we value freedom and liberty for all, and that we were all created equal. No matter somebody’s skin color, country of origin, religion, or identity. That is not the place I live now. It disgusts me that MY country would stoop so low as to h**t and k*** innocent people. That is absolutely vile. It’s no secret that I am pansexual and bi-gender. My brother is trans. I’m afraid of what could happen to either of us. Schools are documenting any children that have identities that stray from the ‘norm’. This is how it starts. I really got up the nerve to make this project because of a school assignment we have. My teacher is encouraging us to write letters to people of power arguing for or against something they believe in. My first thought was LGBTQ+ rights to him (the top guy, not sure if I can say his name here). I want to for the project. What’s stopping me? My safety. Yes. Me, a child. I am scared for my safety sending a letter to defend basic rights. I’m scared that somebody will make me disappear for not keeping quiet and being agreeable. No child nor adult should ever fear for their safety making use of a basic right. Freedom of speech is the 1st amendment. But things have gotten to the point here where freedom of speech is disappearing. I am under 18 and don’t have the means to escape yet, but once I can I will. Even if I wind up homeless or in jail wherever I can afford to go, it might just be better than here. My friends have been trying to comfort me with the fact that once we’re 18 he’ll be gone (big in charge guy), but I can’t see myself staying in a place that has allowed this to happen. I can’t see myself living in a country where neighbors are expected to turn their backs on each other and look the other way as innocents are hauled away. ~~~~~ That was the main negative yap, now onto where I’m hoping for an assist I will be getting out by whatever means necessary when I’m old enough. My mom is supportive of leaving, but she can’t do anything on her own (she’s disabled). My dad supports the horrific stuff happening here, and he is our main source of income. So, lovely users of scratch (whoever winds up seeing this), if you’re from a country that speaks primarily English (enough that an English speaker could reasonably live there), please let me know. If you live there and are part of the youth population, I trust that you’ll have some awareness as to your country’s stances on LGBTQ+, and general rights of the population Requesting that if you are able to, please comment your country and what the quality of life is like there
Just a little note that I know things suck all over in different ways, and some countries are far worse off than here Stay strong wherever you are <3 (I’m a bit scared that scratch won’t like this project, this is the only site I have that I can talk to people from other places tho, and at this point it might be worth my acc to find good info abt other places) Also asking the youth specifically because sometimes the news isn’t honest, sites can be biased, and I trust you guys :P
