a poem wherein wind symbolizes falling in love/ naivety/ arrogance/ all the things we've broken between us /or, an apology, i'm sorry, i swear --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " euphoria " she’s the only one of us who sees the wind. it is coming for us ripping us off our feet but we have been told, it is such a pretty, pretty wind so pretty, her brown hair, her sweaters, her jeans, damn it her eyes, but the wind. so pretty, it is coming for us, such a lovely monster. (am i the monster?) (society says i am, too many pretty little girls and boys, there is no room for monsters) i want to be happy, and i swear to god i am, euphoria, punched into corkboard with pins shiny polyethylene-coated memories but i digress. (wherein i question what the purpose of a poem even is, jumbled thoughts and sticky fingers, keys) i am cold, the wind bites into my skin. “love” i say blindly, happily, she watches; she knows what will happen, she’s the only one of us who sees the wind. the wind sweeps me off my feet, pins me into corkboard- euphoria.
