Pagari woke up. On the streets of an unfamilliar city. Her mind is... blank. Nothing. She hauls herself up to her feet, trying to piece together what happened. She steps out onto the streets and the brightness of the sunlight almost blinds her. Citizens of all shapes and sizes pass by her, rushing to various destinations. Unfamilliar machines... or "vehicles" (wait, where did that word come out of?) zipped past her, and she coughed from the smokey exhast they released from tailpipes. The only thing she remembers is pain. She has memories of pain. Pain that meant demise. If she counted, 999 different types of pain. She doesn't know why, but she just does. She cowered back into the alleyway. "um... hello there?" she snapped around to an unfamilliar (but so familliar) voice. A... white fox(?) was standing at the end of the alleyway, her moss-green eyes, the same shade as hers, glaring at her. "who.. are you?" "oh. I'm... um... Light. You can call me that. And if I'm not mistaken... you're Project 1000, right?" "No, I'm Pagari." (Actually, where did that name come from?) "I want you to live. Live for me and change my ending. Find ██████. The 999 of subjects failed to do this." "what?" "I am long gone. This is only a fraction of my consciousness. You are here to fulfill a prophecy. Find ██████-" Pagari blinked and Light was gone. Now she was on her own. "Please... I just want to live to see him." echoed Light's voice. 2 years later... She can't sleep. It's been like this for 2 years. Every time she sleeps, she revisits the agony of the deaths of the 999 subjects before her. She is sleep deprived and tired. But she can't die. She can't starve to death nor can she die of sleep deprivation- that's for biological creatures. She isn't, somehow. Just something she picked up over 2 years. She joined the Corrosion Extracting Corporation around 1 year ago. She had found a home, performing night shifts and guarding the machinery that laid outside the city's protective terastallion (barrier), vulnerable to attacks from Corrosion Creatures. Until she met Jesko. (Wait, how does she know that name?) She met him during a night shift, his pale golden fur illuminated by genuine moonlight, not the artificial light of the city. He was on a mission to investigate the machinery (how odd! The machinery were perfectly fine, at least in her eyes) On the outside, Jesko was just another happy guy. He wasn't too special- ok, maybe except for part that he works for the Special District. "Mortal enemies." stated by the leader of the Extraction Corp. (Pagari didn't see him as an enemy. He wasn't hostile, and was quite amusing to talk to.) She let him "investigate" the machinery. (The leader was not happy about that.) It was a still night. Pagari saw Jesko again- but something was out of place. He was headed towards the forest, and Pagari followed silently. He head screamed for her to go back and finish her night shift, but her legs disagreed. She followed him for around half an hour. The city's lights phased away into the distance. Then he snapped his head back, possibly sensing her presence. So fast, Pagari could only duck behind a boulder and hold her breath. Sharp thorns poked at her, but she couldn't care less. Then she saw it. Black fur instead of pale gold. Something in Jesko(?)'s eyes reminded her of Light, 2 years ago. Looking into those eyes felt like peering into an ancient abyss, or the glare of a glacial beast. they are somehow connected. She sprinted back- no, flew back. This was the first time she flew at top speed. Then, the thought came. Not in her voice, but Light's. He could destroy the world.
