-READ HERE- If you don’t know what Unity is; it is a free game engine, using Microsoft’s free coding engine to make games. I use Unity to make my free VR game, AXIS Tag. However, because it is free, of course it has a LOT of bugs. 1. If your code is incorrect, and/or doesn’t have a “Mono Behavior” it will not let you build the game for whatever reason. Even if it is the SIMPLEST thing ever, and the script doesn’t matter, it will not even let you test the game… 2. The plugins on Unity are terrible. For a certain type of VR, called SteamVR, you have to use the Open XR or OpenVR plugin, one created by Steam, one created by Unity. Of course the one made by Unity sucks. Open XR is terrible. It is one of the only ones that works with SteamVR, and because it is getting old, it doesn’t work, and it switches to Oculus, even though the Oculus plugin doesn’t work on SteamVR??? And it still asks. 3. Trying to use older versions; because to make a VR game as a new Unity user, you can use a Template. The issue is, the templates are usually on very old or kind of old Unity versions. The issue is, these are, of course, OLD versions. This causes issues, because I’m a new Unity user, and I have to use templates or I crash out. And, these old versions don’t have the bug fixes that the new Unity versions have, or they are even missing features. I hope you guys like my rant, and I’ll see you guys in the next rant! :DDD
