I looked up to the sky, the moon was full, and that meant another mark. I walked off course, the voices of the ancestors attempting to pry me back to my clan. I continued. I arrived at a small rock, a familiar rock, one with moss growing on the top and many years to its name. Walking around the side I discovered what brought me here in the first place. There was a chart, a small carvings engraved in the stone. One section had a crude image of a cactus, or, a desert. And below this image were scratches, one for each moon. "By now, you would've been 40 moons, a senior warrior such as myself" I murmured quietly, adding another scratch to the tally. "I'm so sorry you never got to see this day" I said again, hot tears welling in my eyes. I moved onto the next, it was an image of a piece of sugarcane now. There were many more tally's underneath this one compared to Desertthorn's. I added another mark, another moon. "Sweedeception" I breathed "my first love, I wish I told you how I felt." I mewed, "55 moons is what you would've been now. we could've grown old together. I'm sorry I didn't confess sooner." I felt a twinge of guilt, now that Fallenshadow was my mate, and I did love him eternally and forever. But I also loved Sweetdeception. And the guilt of never confessing to those feelings ate away at me for moons. The last column, had an image of a flower, a valerian flower. I scratched another mark. "50 moons, huh? Valerianthorn you would've been as old as me." I chuckled to myself despite the tears running down my face. "Although I doubt you would've slowed down at all, a true Flurryclan warrior through and through, I'm sorry you never got to see the fruits of your labor." And with that I left. The walk back from the rock was always a hard one, oh how desperately I wanted to run back and glue myself with sap to the columns until I reached my end. But no, I still did have alive friends and family, I was early on in my pregnancy as well. I have to keep going, for my kits, the clan, Fallenshadow. Even if I wont amount to much in the grand scheme of things. Besides, if nothing ended up going my way who's to say I'd be wrong for lashing out? No one surely. All the other warriors in the clan other than the highranks were about as weak as a newborn kit. Who could stand against her? 'No one, your highness' The Puppeteer echoed in my dreams. 'You're the strongest, you're the best, you deserve it.' it cooed again. I had to keep my eyes forward. The only light to guide me was the moon. ___________________________________________ <C l o s e F i l e>
