I shall now talk about why this crossing failed miserably. It used a literal Bicycle bell. It was even so top heavy that standing under it was almost as dangerous as standing under an anvil duct taped to a wall. The stop sign that raises was just useless, because it already had flashing lights and a bell. Rusting in the stop sign mechanism was quite common, so if you ever do fine one of these, the stop sign 9 out of 10 times doesn't work properly, or it has no stop sign. Maintenance was never easy with this crossing, that's why the stop sign is never fixed on them anymore. Anything that gets trapped in the mechanism would fully jam it, and it was just way too ugly. The light covers were held on by seemingly scotch tape, and its faulty wiring made the signal unreliable. Its ridged shape made maintenance a nightmare for workers. Costs were way too high on this to keep building them, with unnecessary parts, as the MASSIVE STOP SIGN.
