Litterally just going to post my thoughts right here. KIDDOS. STOP. OVER. REACTING. SCRATCH IS DOING A BETTER THING THAN A LOT OF OTHER PLACES. BASICALLY EVERYWHERE IS ABLE TO USE YOUR STUFF FOR AI, JUST SCRATCH IS ACTUALLY WARNING YOU. Okay, lets adress the main issues people bring up. 1. It's buried in TOS Vroski... parents are *supposed* to look over it first AND TELL KIDS, so they should know about it and consent. 2. Its a bad change to TOS that steals your stuff This has always been allowed in Scratch liscenses. The liscense they always had gave them the right to use your stuff however. Technically, they didn't have to reveal that they were using it for AI. Say what you will about it 'stealing' your stuff, but they were always allowed to do this so its nothing new. 3. They 'force' you to accept it. ... You're forced to use Scratch? Where? 4. 'AI BAD' Yes, this is really your entire complaint. AI IS NOT ALWAYS BAD. It CAN be bad, but not always. AI CAN AND HAS been used for good things. I'm not saying Scratch's usage is bad but don't complain simply because of the word "AI". 5. It's a betrayal of ST's ideals. Supposedly it wasn't even ST's decision, it was big shareholder decision and they want money and AI is how they think they get money so yea... don't blame ST they were forced into it. 6. Its new to Scratch I think a lot of other platforms (especially if they don't give you complete copyright) already do this. Scratch did us a favor by forcing us to check over TOS again when they updated it, unlike other ones where they constantly gave TOS updates so people ignored them when they allowed themselves to do this. Say what you will about my logic, not always the best I get it. However, yall are blowing this out of proportion and making this site super toxic. Also, you're using like... innacurate information or simply just the argument that "AI BAD SO ANYTHING ABOUT AI MUST BE NEW AND TERRIBLEEEE" Also, I think they're just using it to train the coding side of Scratch or somethin but idk edit: check this project for an update better than what I can give https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1270349255 #MiddlegroundsExist
This was made in 15 minutes Also, its a rant not an essay. Don't take most of this as fact because *most* of it is just what I deduced in a few minutes.
