UPDATE - scratch has confirmed they are not training AI with our art. Read about it HERE -> https://www.scratchfoundation.org/ai so in regards to the ai dilemma. I am seeing countless people leaving and so many artists freaking out about this new TOS, and i have some things to say about it. 1) I am against ai and i will always be, i think it is evil and rips intelligence and creativity out of the hands of today's children. I just want to clarify that before i say anything else. 2) I have seen the projects and all the petitions and I think that petitioning is great. my one thing though is that people are being incredibly aggressive to the scratch team while there is a chance they aren't even involved in the issue. I think that we need to be civilized about the issue until it is cleared up. 3) EVERYONE. LEAVING. i understand that ai is a big issue for artists, but please, please, there are other ways to resolve an issue than to just give up! Like i said earlier, you could sign a petition, or just email the scratch team (POLITELY) about your concerns. Scratch is such a wonderful community, and if we want things to change, we need to preserve that! 4) I have seen the project link to scratch team's explanation of the TOS(here if you haven't seen it https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1270291994), and one thing stuck out to me, and that is the CLA. i understand that in a coding website it might be helpful to have a little help if you're a beginner. But using AI to generate code for you? come on scratch. The purpose of your website is literally to teach kids how to code, not do it for them. this new ai helping thing is doing nothing to teach kids anything about coding and it's gonna be the reason kids are losing IQ. 5) I am not particularly worried about the ai art thing, mainly because I am a very, very small creator and I doubt many people will even see this. I will NOT stop posting my art NOR will i be leaving anytime soon. In my mind, it doesn't matter if an ai tool recreates your art, because the real reason for art in all of our hearts is because we enjoy it! If you love drawing, what is an ai software you don't have to interact with doing to stop you? Anyways, TLDR, i have mixed feelings about scratches new tos, but i will not be leaving.
