(this is an edited version of what I originally wrote. if you read what I gave you before, hi- I just put more info and some links, I still have the same opinion. also added music) As some of you know, a lot of people, artists in specific are upset about the newest update here on Scratch. I understand where they're coming from, considering that 1- Scratch has been AI free forEVER 2- AI has it's whole controversy, considering the image generation Now onto the issue and why you're reading this, !! Just a quick disclaimer before you do: !! -I am NOT a reliable source, don't use me as one. -Please genuinely look into this situation before making any conclusions -Do not harass anybody on the ST, you will be muted or worse. Scratch has just released an update where they have you put in your information. However once you give your location you come across a message saying they updated their privacy policy. This is a requirement, there was no way to close this out. There was no way to leave this. You had to agree. Anyway, I know not a lot of people read the TOS or privacy policy, and being honest? Me neither, it wasn't until I was informed by my sibling of the situation that I really dug into it. So I will give a quick review on what is going on and bringing havoc on everyone, and my personal opinion on it. Okay, by agreeing to the new message, you agreed to allow scratch to use your project for AI use. On January 22, 2026, ST has updated their TOS+Privacy Policy and explained. In the Privacy Policy, Section 2: "Limited Licence Grant" To those of you who don't know what that is, it's where when you share a project, people are allowed to remix it and use your code and/or art as long as credit is given. That part has always been the case. But now they have "...and to otherwise improve our products and services and create new products and services, including through the training of AI models." That is where people started to panic, shared with others, caused more panic, the more panicked to share with others, the cycle goes on. Scratch. The place where I personally thought wouldn't get worse like almost everything else nowadays has. The place where people and artists come together to share their ideas, we don't want this and we didn't agree to this, Please ST genuinely have some thought before bringing in some soulless mindless robot to come in. 98% of the people on here are artists. And this isn't making matters any better considering some of the situations happening on other apps/on the internet (YouTube, Roblox, Insta, etc.) It feels like we're getting trapped in this silent AI takeover. It doesn't feel like that will get better anytime soon. And some of the creators here are quitting due to this situation. A lot of people quit sharing. A lot of people are making projects just like this. But I think that we're overreacting just a bit.. Okay- before you jump me in the comments- genuinely hear me out. Scratch is known as a CODING WEBSITE/APP. I highly doubt that ST is putting the AI in to take our art, but more likely for the code. I hope that it's the only thing, and that's the issue, and hopefully people can calm down. After I originally shared this project yesterday in their "PLEASE READ" project made the valid point that I said too. Scratch might use the coding information to make a chatbot/assistant. Now personally, I don't agree with this from Scratch either because we have imported videos here that will give you tutorials. We don't need nor want a chatbot. But that doesn't mean we should stop creating, or quit, just show them how strong you really are. Fight back. Keep posting. Don't chicken out because AI is coming to Scratch. We don't have much information, but in the meantime, just try to stay calm and see how this plays out, you're allowed to be angry or scared, but don't cause panic to others. here's 's project because it was mentioned- and here is a discussion that I've been reading up on too SCRATCH IS !!NOT!!
