(Surge POV) Surge had her sniper aimed at the blue hedgehog's heart, her finger lightly on the trigger. Kit was beside her, binoculars in hand as he surveyed the area to be sure their perch was hidden. Surge exhaled slowly, adjusting her aim as the darn hedgehog moved to kiss Shadow, his supposed rival. Kit hadn't given her the signal to fire yet, and it wasn't a dramatic enough timing. She wanted to get him as soon as he put his grubby hands on that trophy. RING -KABOOM Surge flinched as her phone rang loudly in her jacket's pocket. She looked through the scope of the accidentally fired gun, pushing her phone to Kit so he could answer. She'd shot him. But he wasn't dead. She missed and hit his stomach. She growled and aimed again, this time not hesitating to fire as Sonic and that emo rat disappeared behind the stage curtains. Surge stood up and furiously yelled, kicking the gun, "YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!" She turned to Kit, who had walked away so he could hear the phone better. She stomped over and grabbed the phone from him, not seeing the fear in his pink eyes until after she screamed into it, "What do you want!? I'm busy doing my job, which you screwed up!!" "If you had waited two seconds, then maybe you would have learned that he decided he didn't want Sonic dead anymore!" Her boss's voice rang from over the phone. He was angry. Surge froze, "Shoot... On the bright side, that shot most likely won't kill him... hopefully" "So, you missed." "Mhm... Why did they suddenly decide 'oh I don't want this rockstar dead anymore'?" Surge asked, trying to derail the subject. "Change of heart, I don't know! But I know that Infinite is still going after the client." Bossman grumbled, "By the way, you aren't getting paid for this." And with that, they hung up. Surge chucked her phone at the ground, a crack echoing from it and glass scattering across the rooftop. She looked to Kit, "Come on, the police will look around here soon." "What about the gun and your phone?" Kit asked. "They won't be able to track that back to us. Now, common Drippy," Surge said as she started to climb down the fire escape. Kit followed, and after a moment, he spoke, "So that wasn't your actual phone?" "I don't want Dr. Platipie's number on my actual phone..." Surge grumbled, "That's too risky." Kit nodded, "Oh..." The ambulance and police were quick to arrive at the BoB stadium. Infinite was arrested after he was treated for the head wound that Shadow was so kind to give him. And with his arrest and what Shadow had shared with the authorities based on what Infinite had shared, Eggman Industries' owner, Ivo Robotnik, was investigated for hiring a h1tman, the murder of Sonic's parents, and organizing the murder of Maria and Sonic, and other crimes that were already being suspected. (Anyway, back to what you want to know. No one wants to hear about this random lore drop bout things that were hardly mentioned in this fanfiction and are really only being mentioned because it's advertising the soon-to-come-out backstories of the main cast members.) Surge kicked open her boss's door, stomping forward to his desk. The white platypus looked up from some paperwork; his white fur sharply stood to the side, adjusting his round glasses., and the black stripe stood out, along with his black bill. He was neatly dressed and was siting as if he was important. The platypus looked over, an eyebrow raised. "Can you be any louder, Surge?" He asked sarcastically, Adjusting his round glasses. "We quit." Surge huffed. "Pardon?" "You heard me Starline-" Surge started but the platypus interrupted her and stood up. The look in his maroon eyes dangerous. "I wasn't aware we were on a first name basis Surge." He walked around his desk approaching Surge who suddenly couldn't move. His wooden cane taped on the floor as he walked. The orange jewel with its darker spiral glittered in the artificial lighting. Each tap got a flinch and abnormal heartbeat from Surge. He spoke as he stopped an inch away from her face, "And I don't remember you having a choice in this matter." Surge wanted to speak but she couldn't get a sound out. She hated how she froze whenever this guy is involved. "You and Kit can't quit. Not while I'm still in charge. Not while I own you two." Dr. Starline narrowed his eyes, "Isn't that right Surge?" Surge swallowed, "I- ... Yes sir." "Good. No get out of here before you end up like Scourge." And with that, the platypus went back to his seat. Surge stormed out of the room, her fists trembling as she stood outside the closed door. Kit peaked around a corner and cautiously walked over. He blinked, his blue bangs covering his worried pink eyes. Surge took a quick breath before she looked down at the fennec fox. After a moment she could see the disappointment that washed into him as he realized what the results were once again.
(Shadow POV) It's been months since the disastrous BoB winners' ceremony. It still haunted him, no matter how hard he tried to forget it. Rouge had invited Shadow over to her apartment. He had nothing better to do, so he was riding over on his motorcycle. Plus, Rouge said she had something planned and that he needed to be there for it. Shadow walked up the steps to her apartment and knocked four times before opening the door. Per usual, little to no lights were on. Shadow sighed and reached for her light switch, hitting something that should not be there. It was soft and warm; his arm froze, his fingertips staying on whatever was there. Shadow looked over with an eyebrow raised, confusion washing over him. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, the silhouette of a figure came into shape. The arm of the silhouette moved, and the lights flashed on. Shadow felt the color drain from his face as he recognized Amy standing there, her face fully red. Shadow pulled his hand away quickly, "A-Amy!?" Shadow whipped his head over to Rouge, who had her hand over her mouth and was desperately trying to hold in her laughter. Silver and Espio stood near Rouge, a confused look on their faces at what had happened in the darkness. Blaze and Omega walked out from the kitchen's sliding doors, a tray of food in hand. She raised an eyebrow when she scanned the others' faces. Shadow looked back at Rouge, "What's happening?" "I-I was going to have a little get together with all of us," Rouge said, trying her best not to burst out laughing. Shadow slowly nodded and walked away from Amy, who was still flustered. Shadow hadn't expected that he would ever see all of Sakura in the same room again. Not after the band disbanded, not long after they won BoB along with Dudeatude, Sakura had disbanded due to the tension between Blaze and Amy after the rejection. From what Shadow knew, the two were still on talking terms, but they weren't nearly as close as they once were. Blaze had begun working for the Sol Press and was rising quickly in the ranks. Amy had started working as a model and designer for the dresses Honey the Cat made. And Shadow hadn't heard of what was going on between Silver and Espio since then. "Sorry if it doesn't taste that good. I don't cook that often..." Blaze nervously smiled as she held the tray out towards Shadow. Shadow looked down at whatever it was she had made and blinked, "Are they... brownies?" Blaze hung her head low, "No... It's supposed to be garlic nots..." "Ah..." Shadow crossed his arms over his chest before looking up to Omega, "Did you help cook?" "I tried. We both can't cook." Omega looked down at his tray of equally burnt food. Shadow sighed and walked past them, "I'll cook something edible." As soon as Shadow entered the kitchen, he rolled his sleeves up, took his fingerless gloves off, and washed his hands. His mind went through different foods he could easily and quickly make. "Hi Knucki~" Rogue's voice drifted in from the main room. Shadow looked up from his cooking and started heading for the main room. Sliding the door open, he looked out. Omega was looking down towards Tails, his arm extended as the yellow fox inspected his parts, his blue eyes glowing with intense fascination. Knuckles was talking to Rouge, her hand on his shoulder. Shadow felt his chest tighten as he didn't spot who he was looking for. Shadow turned to head back into the kitchen, hands clapped over his eyes. "Guss who~" (OOO DRAMATIC CUT OFF!!!) (jk) "Get our hands off my eyes, Faker," Shadow said, pulling the hands off his eyes and turning to face them. "Why are you always calling me 'Faker'? I'm not fake Mr. Ultimate Goon-form." Sonic questioned as Shadow grabbed him by his sides. Shadow shrugged, "It's unreal how many times you almost died and how you stupidly-" Sonic cut him off, "look fine, and how funny I am, and how-" "Hot headed you are?" Shadow finished Sonic's sentence, earning a laugh from the blue hedgehog. "What do you mean by that?" Sonic raised his eyebrows and smirked. Shadow rolled his eyes, "weirdo." "Nuh uh!" "Yes, you are. Don't lie!" Shadow poked Sonic in the forehead. Returning his hand to Sonic's side as he spoke, "You staying at my place tonight, or are you going to go back to your brother's house tonight?" "Yeah, I'll stay at your place." Half to himself, he added, "I wonder what shirt and pants I'll steal this time..." "You still have clothing there, you know..." He shrugged, "Nah, they're dirty." "Do you think I just don't wash my laundry?" Shadow raised an eyebrow. "I hoped that you hadn't washed my clothes within the past three days... I wanna steal from you." Sonic pouted. "Shadow! Don't forget about the food!" Rouge called over, "You can be lovey dovey later!" Shadow rolled his eyes and went back into the kitchen, Sonic close on his heels and slide the door shut behind him.
