Here it is. The big one. What the whole series has been leading to. I really hope you enjoy it :3 The dreary clouds blocked the sun’s shine. The cool morning breeze chilled Frankie to the bone. As she sat at a small, single person table, she tried to take her mind off recent events. She looked around the Cat Cafe. Everywhere she looked she saw people sitting together. Friends, families, couples, all laughing and having the time of their lives. Finally her coffee arrived, and she took it to go. Heading outside the building, she saw an empty street. Sighing, Frankie began to head home. Frankie walked slowly home, her footsteps heavy in the cold morning. She brought her coffee up to her lips, and felt its cooled contents spill down her throat. As she walked, her figure sloached over, she looked down the street. There, she saw someone. Their raven hair tipped Frankie off to who it was. Looking for another way to go, she dragged her eyes around her. There wasn’t anywhere she could go. She had to press forward. Lilith had seen Frankie now. Frankie began to walk down the cement sidewalk. It’s rough course ground scratching against Frankie’s shoes. Lilith was beginning to get closer. It was clear now that she was coming over to Frankie. Frankie wanted to go any other way. The thought of facing Lilith again stung her. Frankie wanted things to go back to the way they were. She missed having someone to hangout with, someone who cared for her. But she couldn’t see things going back to the way they were. Lilith finally came up to Frankie. Frankie looked at her and saw something in her eye. It was fear. But it was something else. Something more. It was hesitance and anxiety. Lilith looked Frankie in the eye, and Frankie could see her trying to figure out what to say. “ H-hey Frankie,” Lilith said, Frankie noticing her grab onto her arms. “ Hi Lilith,” Frankie said quietly. Something ached in Frankie’s chest. Something that longed to go and hug Lilith. But there was something that held it back. “ S-so, nice weather today…,” Lilith mentioned awkwardly, stumbling over her words. Frankie almost wanted to laugh at it. But she remembered the lie, and the want died. “ Yeah…,” Frankie responded. A silence fell over them, the elephant in the room seeming to steal the ability to speak. After a minute, Lilith took a deep breath and looked Frankie in the eye. “ Look, I-I know I messed up. I did something awful and stupid. I shouldn't have done it. I-I just wanted to tell you why I did it,” Lilith told Frankie, her hands clasped together. Frankie quietly nodded, signaling Lilith to continue. “ You changed my life Frankie. The few months I’ve known you have been the best of all my life. You made me feel better about myself, better about everything. And I saw you, having issues. You didn’t think you were good at art, good at acting, good at anything. I wanted to make you feel better about yourself, like you made me. A-and when I saw that you hadn’t gotten the role, I was worried that you would go back to feeling worthless. I made a split second decision. I thought that if I… if I got you the role you would feel good about yourself. But I couldn’t get you the role. I couldn’t fix my mistake. And I ruined everything,” Lilith explained. Frankie could see tears come to her eyes. “ But why didn’t you just tell the truth from the beginning?” Frankie asked, her voice filled with emotion. “ Because I was worried you’d react badly! Because I was worried that you would hate me!” Lilith responded, her eyes watering. Lilith looked Frankie in the eye, and Frankie could see her make a decision. Taking a deep breath, Lilith said “ I like you Frankie.” “ I like you more than a friend. F-for a while I didn’t realize it, but when I did I had a hard time adjusting to it. I was afraid to tell you. So I-I would try to find ways to show you it. And maybe get you to like me that way,” Lilith told Frankie, her tears dibbling down her face. Frankie stood there for a moment, comprehending what Lilith had just told her. L-Lily liked her. Lilith loved Frankie. Frankie felt something in her click, like the final piece of a puzzle. Her resentment from the betrayal melted away. Frankie ran up to Lilith and hugged her, blushing all the while. Frankie felt her own tears begin to flow, washing out all her pain. Frankie could feel Lily hug her back. Frankie began to laugh, and soon Lily joined in. Frankie didn't know how long they stayed there, but she did know that for the first time in a week, she was happy.
