CHAPTER 11: "Spy Game" (Part 1) On the next wonderful day, Sonic and Tails met up. “Hey, buddy! I've noticed you started to spend more time with Amy. That's great!” – blue Hedgehog noticed and pet his friend’s head. - “Inner friendship is very important in our team.” “Yeah!” – Fox agreed. – [I wonder if we could make it collective. Me, Amy and Cream are the only group at the moment. Knuckles seems to be the only one who isn’t part of any friend groups, besides team membership.] “For now, I'm going for the morning run.” “Can I join?” “Yep.” – [Hopefully, she won’t chase me like usual…] “Okay! But first, I have to warn her.” – two-tailed buddy run to the girl’s house. They finished cleanup on yesterday’s evening. He knocked on the door and it opened. “Amy, would you mind if me and Sonic went for a morning run?” “Not at all! Have fun, I'll stay and guard our houses.” Fox waved and went on the morning run. Both old friends were racing around Green Hill Zone. But something concerned Sonic. - [She didn’t even propose to join? Strange, that’s unusual for her… Oh, no! I forgot about the promised picnic! What if she is offended by my incompetence? It matches perfectly! I have to visit her. After morning run.] --- Knux is still sleeping on Master Emerald. But how about Rouge? She returned after the nice picnic with Shadow. No one was there, except for a familiar pink rival. – [Mhm…] “Hey. Is Sonic home?” – Bat asked intentionally. Maybe it adds some spice into the generic conversation? “He's on a morning run. You want something?” – Amy wasn’t really happy by Rouge’s presence. “Oh, just checking.” – [seems to work.] – “Do you know Shadow invited me on picnic yesterday?” “Oh, that's great.” – Hedgehog answered calmly. – [Why should I be impressed? Picnics is what friends usually do.] [Not even drop of annoyance??] – “Pfft— And you don't feel jealous?” “I had multiple picnics with friends, so why should I?” [Unplanned.] - “Um, I better go...” The Bat quickly flew away, disappointed by being outsmarted by some 12 year old. Amy giggled, amused by fast retreat of her rival. - “There is no way I can lose.” --- Knuckles woke up and brushed his teeth using natural materials. He ate some prepared fresh grapes and heard unpleasant noise. – [This Bat again…] She landed behind, welcomed by grumpy face. “Hey, Knuckie! Missed me?” [No.] - “What do you want.” “Oh, don't play serious!” – [Alright. You win.] – “...Well. I am just bored.” [On other hand…] - “Bored you say? What if I give you a task?” “Task? Mhmm... What is it about?” – [Surely better than messing around.] “There's one Fox, but not Tails. It's his so-called cousin.” “Tails has cousin?” – [Seems like I missed a lot.] “Sort of. I don't trust that guy. He's too kind. So I want to send you to spy on him.” [Just like old days!] - “Fun! Do I have to be sneaky or should I ask him questions directly?” “Ask him questions directly. If he's a spy, he will surrender after the right questions.” “Deal!” – she shook his hand. – “And you're lucky I don't ask for anything in return. Consider it as an advantage of being in the same team.” – wink. “Yeah, yeah.” – [But don’t think this partnership is permanent.]
