Long story short: Nova collides into earth like asteroids, their entire concept is that they're aliens, which is quite reasonable given that they're relatively un-human like (look at the expressions). Fish out of water story. Simple as that. We all know that different planets have different survival needs as well, possibly Nova transformed to live in our life most comfortably. Since we all know, if we found an alien, we wouldn't treat it with respect, it would be a lab dummy. This also explains the "error in self" and "don't forget" messages. Because we've seen that Nova has 5 members TECHNICALLY, but only 4 appear. So what's the 5th member? WHAT IS ALSO AN ALIEN-LIKE BEING THAT THE NOVA MEMBERS, WHO ARE ALSO ALIENS, CLAIM AS A PET? PEEP. There was only 1 ASTEROID. IT'S PEEP. And this kinda seems to be in character, because it feels like sidelining a core asset, like a member, would cause this alien to be mad. Hence why it was screaming at them when they said they weren't adopting it. Plus, the project is called "A small introduction", like it would be introducing the Nova members, but no, it's just a pet. Why introduce a pet when it's relatively useless? LORE. LORE. THAT'S WHY!
