He even mentioned being Whole one too many times. “SO!????! DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS?!?!?!??!” “Yes, you had just spent the past 10 minutes pacing the room and talking about harmony.” The Heart pointed out, as obvious as it was. Something must have clicked in The Mind’s head, because his gears were whirring faster in excitement, or something along the lines. The Heart could feel the thunder activating inside his main operating system, the circuits running overtime. “That seems logical.” The Heart and Soul whipped their heads to face the automaton, the entity grinned. "OH MY GOD, MIND AGREES!!!” “Oh my god, Mind agrees.” The Heart muttered, his brows raising a tad. “Like genuinely? That seems logical?” “If we do try to become ‘Whole’, it would not destabilize my system, nor will it debilitate your vessels.” The Mind stated blandly, shutting his laptop faster than he usually would have. “Possibly, if the vital statistics synchronized to a degree of total empathy, we could try.” He made a small motion with his hands for The Soul to at least try to understand what he was getting at. The Soul took a breath, clasping his hands together with a small clap. Deep in thought, he replied, “So, if I blur the lines more…” “It would be detrimental to our mentality, and we may never sense properly again.” The Mind interrupted, almost as if he was finishing The Soul’s sentence. “I like sensing things.” The Heart pouted, resting his head on the table. The Mind put a hand on the angel’s shoulder, the thumb of the automaton running over automated movements like he has done this a hundred times over. “I know.” “Of course, you ‘know’. You ‘know’ everything.” The Heart scoffed, pushing The Mind’s hand away like he did every single time. “Exactly. I am smarter.” “Of course, you are.” The Heart chuckled under his breath, the heat bouncing off the wooden table and to his face. “Oh ew, I don’t like that.” He winced, tilting his head upward. “SEE? HARMONIA IS ACHIEVABLE! WE DIDN’T HAVE A HUGE ARGUMENT!!” The Soul practically gushed; voice filled with fervor. He continued pacing the room, the light almost bursting from under the face he wore. There was a look in his eye that seemed to know exactly how the following events were going to occur, even though it was mostly out of his control. It was nice, The Heart thought. It was very nice. The Heart could sense the happiness radiating of The Soul in waves. “Are you finished with this protocol?” The Mind leaned his head on his mechanical hand. There was a bored expression on his undoubtedly usually bored face. “I need to carry out with executing the task of this essay. My GPU is currently overloaded.” “Are you overstimulated?” The Heart asked, his voice barely breathing. He got a nod from The Mind, who would never give a verbal answer to that kind of stuff. “Is that because of the essay or because of Soul?” The Angel was trying to find where he sensed The Mind’s vitals for a moment, gears turning quickly and head swarming with processes and data measurements. “Both.” The Mind retorted, his eyes narrowing slightly at the overexcited entity. The automaton’s hands were ‘malfunctioning’, more like trembling, from panic. “Rude.” The Soul scoffed, crossing his arms like he wasn’t the eldest. It was quite childish. The Heart looked at his younger brother for a moment, a pang of pity rushed through him. “You can go somewhere quieter if you want.” “Unfortunately, as you mentioned, this is ‘bonding time’. Bonding is not 100% complete.” The Mind deadpanned, the voice modulator in his throat glitching the smallest amount. “What the hell did you say to him about this being bonding time?” The Soul leaned in, giving a look next to a glare at The Heart. “You said it was bonding time, I was only the messenger.” The Heart raised his hands in surrender, backing away a bit until his back hit the kitchen counter.
“Oh yeah, I did say that.” The Soul chuckled nervously. He scratched the back of his neck like it was all sunshine and rainbows that he almost tweaked out over something he had said himself. The two looked back at the malfunctioning Mind, completely overworked. “We should do something about that.” “We should.” “I’M IN PAIN!” The Mind blurted, the voice hardly his now, just Chonny’s. The automaton now suddenly a lot more human than the brothers were used to. The two did a double take, surprised that even happened. Almost immediately, The Heart put a hand to The Mind’s forehead, feeling the automaton overheating. “TURN ON THE DAMN FANS!” “I’M TRYING!!!” The Soul scrambled to turn on just about every fan in a 20-foot radius, “PLEASE DON’T DIE ON US, LIL’ BRO!!” “Wait dude. We should stop yelling.” The Heart raised an arm, gaining The Soul’s attention. “If he’s anything like me, we should shut the hell up.” “Okay.” The Soul immediately stopped his panicking, almost comical with how quickly it was. The Soul took a seat next to The Mind, sitting across from The Heart, who was currently wrapping a wing around the overstimulated brother. A soft hum of a squeak escaped The Mind’s voice box, the mechanical man barely holding himself up and rubbing his temples. The three sat in silence for a few moments. It felt nice. The Soul occupied himself by picking lint off The Mind’s shoulder. The Soul squinted a bit at the black wool, then at the ventilation on Mind’s neck and lower jawline. “Well, it aint lint.” The Soul pointed out; a neutral expression plastered onto his face. “Congratulations, Mr. Mind, you know how to use a lint roller.” There was a small nod, likely from all 3 components. The angel placed a hand on The Mind’s shoulder. “I know what comes after.” The Heart whispered. “Can we cut a few of these tabs?” The Mind took a moment to respond, the gears whirring overtime in his head. “Yes, I should.” “There we go. See? Was it that difficult?” The Soul teased, pulling on The Mind’s cheek like it wasn’t almost purely metallic. “You need to stop pressuring yourself!” The Mind scoffed at that, finding it next to impossible. His grip tightened on his sweater; a soft exhale escaped his system. “It’s going to be okay!” The Heart chirped, fiddling with a strand of The Mind’s hair, the midnight lock springing up when the tension was released. “That is a false statement.” The Mind shut down almost immediately, much to the amusement of The Soul, whose shoulders were now shaking with unseen laughter. “It is a false statement, is it not?” “No, it’s an unknown promise.” The Heart sighed, finally giving in to the reality that it may not be okay. “Affirmative.” The Mind collected his laptop and stood up, a dull expression on his usually dull face. Just like before. “I believe we do not want to drop out of our education… again.” And he waltzed out, a soft click with every step he took, likely due to the leather on the soles of his shoes. “Is he wearing heels?” The Heart glanced over to The Soul, who was also a little surprised at the click of his stride. “No.” The Soul peeped, squinting at the source of the noise, which was now dissipating quickly. “Probably dress shoes.” The Soul muttered. He patted The Heart on the back, grinning a bit. “But you wouldn’t know that.” The entity jeered before phasing through the floor and out.
