~ 5 minute read · · ──── ·꩜· ──── · · life is confusing. like, tutorial-missing, instructions-gone, map-on-fire confusing. nobody hands you a rulebook, no checklist, no "press x to not mess up" guide. you’re just here, alive, expected to make the right choices, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward like you definitely know what you’re doing. (you don’t. relax. neither does anyone else.) but after tripping over life enough times, you start noticing patterns. life, very casually, runs on a few simple principles. the first principle is honesty. honesty keeps life clean and uncomplicated. when you are honest with yourself, you understand your limits, your mistakes, and your strengths. you stop lying in your own head (very rude habit, by the way). when you are honest with others, trust follows naturally. lying only adds layers of confusion, guilt, and stress. you need memory skills, acting skills, and emotional stamina to lie. honesty saves energy. it lets you live freely, without constantly fixing or hiding the truth. i think i need to learn this principle too, welp... the second principle is kindness. kindness makes life lighter. it shows up in small moments, in everyday choices, in how you treat people when there is no reward involved. kindness does not mean being weak or silent... it means choosing empathy, even when it is easier not to. a kind action can change the mood of a room, or even a day, without you realising it! the third principle is patience. life does not work on instant results. growth is slow, progress is uneven, and timing is rarely perfect. patience teaches you to wait without panicking or declaring your entire life a failure at 2 a.m. it reminds you that just because something is taking time, it does not mean it is not working. the fourth principle is responsibility. every choice you make leaves a mark. fun fact: responsibility means admitting your actions matter and that you cannot, unfortunately, blame everything on fate, mercury retrograde, or your mood. it is not about blaming yourself for everything either... it is about learning, correcting, and improving. taking responsibility gives you control over your life, instead of leaving it to chance. the fifth principle is gratitude. gratitude keeps your perspective balanced. it helps you notice what is already going right, even on days that feel messy. being grateful does not mean ignoring problems. it means not letting problems erase everything good. gratitude keeps you grounded, aware, and present. in short, gratitude keeps you sane. these principles do not promise an easy life. nothing does. but they help you live with clarity, purpose, and stability. also, if life ever feels completely out of control, just remember... at least you’re not a main character in a horror movie. those people ignore every red flag and still go investigate the noise. you, on the other hand, are learning principles. and honestly, that makes all the difference. - the bookmark • ───── ✾ ───── • • ───── ✾ ───── •
