Sorry this chapter is a bit late, I forgot to upload it Friday, I will be getting back to posting weekly chapters :3 Frankie felt the sweet air breeze past her face. The sound of crickets whistled into her ears. Lily had brought her out to this field. The two of them, Reid, and Gerard came out here to relax and hang out. She looked over the field and smiled. She was glad to be hanging out with Lily. Frankie had been busy working on her science fair project, so they hadn't been able to see each other. But Frankie had turned her project in yesterday, so they decided to come here and hang out. Frankie saw Gerard and Reid wandering about, occasionally poking at rocks or sticks. Lily sat beside her, humming to herself, and sometimes cracking jokes at Frankie. Frankie grinned as she watched Lily joke about her favorite shows. Frankie couldn’t believe she was friends with Lily. She remembered a time when she couldn’t imagine having people outside her mom who cared. But she did. “ So, how did your Science fair project go?” Lily asked, putting her head on her knees. “ Oh, It went over fine,” Frankie told her. After that class, the teacher had pulled her over and told her that her project was one of the best she’d gotten. “ That’s great. I… I still have to finish mine,” Lily mentioned. Frankie laughed. “ Do you need me to help you finish it?” Frankie asked. “ N-no! No, it’s fine,” Lily answered quickly. The two of them sat there for a bit. Frankie began to think about the art contest. She couldn’t believe she’d won. But, she still couldn’t help but wonder how Lily knew her issues with her art. She didn’t really talk about it too much. “ Hey Lily, how did you know I wasn’t super confident in my art?” She asked, looking Lily in the eye. Lily looked back at her and began to blush. “ Oh! Yeah, I-I just noticed you never talk about it, and when you do, you talk about how bad it is,” Lily told her. Lily looked away, her face red. Frankie chuckled and said “ You’re a great friend Lily.” “ Sometimes it doesn’t feel that way,” Lily mummered quietly. Suddenly realizing what she said, she began to stammer “ I-I me-mean-” “ You really feel that way?” Frankie asked worriedly. How could Lily feel that way? “ Well-I just sometimes say something that upsets you, or I worry I’m not doing enough to make you feel like you’re important or-or,” Lily quickly told Frankie. Frankie scooted over to give her a hug. Lily quietly took it. “ Lily, you're an amazing friend,” Frankie told her, hugging Lily tightly. “ Thanks Franks,” Lily replied. Gerard walked beside Reid, careful to not put weight on his left foot. It looked alright, but he hoped Reid wouldn’t see it. Knowing them, they’d try to get him to a doctor. That was the last thing Gerard needed. Gerard turned to face Reid. They were talking about their family. They seemed like a happy family. Gerard wished he had that. As Gerard was walking, he accidently put some weight on his left foot. He gave out a cry, and fell to the ground. On the ground, he reached over and looked at his foot. Maybe it didn’t look alright. Reid kneeled down to take a look at his leg, but Gerard moved it away from them. As he did, a horrid pain shot through his leg. Reid began to take a look at his leg. They frowned and said “ How long has your leg been hurt?” “ A couple days,” Gerard admitted. Reid looked at him and asked “ How did this happen?” “ I-I,” Gerad tried to say something but couldn’t. He looked to Reid, and saw that they already guessed what’s wrong. “ Look mate, I know things are hard at your home. I just want you to know you have somewhere to go. You have a home with me,” Reid told him. Gerard felt a strange sensation in his chest. He felt hope. I hope that things can get better. I hope that he doesn't have to stay in his situation. Hope for happiness. Lilith and Frankie walked over to the other two. Their parents had told them to be back by seven, and it was almost six fifty. “ Are you guys ready to head out?” Lilith asked the others. They nodded, and got up. Lilith looked toward Frankie, and saw that she was smiling at her. When Frankie realized that Lilith had seen it, she turned away blushing. Together the two groups began to head home.
