WASD + Mouselook (joystick-style) Space to jump Click to swing your sword
Which do you prefer: performance, or visual fidelity? This is an older version of the engine than the Vector Men demo; however, it is the fastest to date. There is a primitive mob system implemented, but no mobs in the scene. Here you will find visual bugs at the expense of much faster rendering. This version could be made faster still by back-porting some of the Vector Men improvements, while dispensing with the extra tests that reduced drawing quirks. I know of no other textured 3D in Scratch that runs at fullspeed without TurboWarp. If you do, please let me know in the comments. The engine does not attempt anything as sophisticated as BSP, though visibility *is* baked into the map itself. When drawing, the engine only knows about those polygons that are currently visible, and only draws those surfaces which are not already occluded. When checking collisions, the engine only tests within the current polygon. This map is small, but this front-to-back, visibility-based system should support arbitrarily large maps, up until "long list" lag; however, large, open spaces slow the renderer, due to lack of mipmapping. The current sword system is cheap and kind of bad. In the future, I'd like to treat the sword as an invisible projectile with a short throw. This should also reduce unexpected behavior. The mob system in this version is slow, buggy, and obsolete. If you want a better one, leave a comment and maybe I'll share some code :)
