Introducing Emerald, your personal Scratch assistant! Try asking it anything; to play a game, how a Scratch block works, a joke, a fun fact, complex equations, ask it how it works, etc. By the way, it is NOT made of real AI, it's made with a bunch of preplanned responses. Many Easter eggs to be discovered! It’s still learning so it might not understand some things you say. (For math equations, + for addition, - for subtraction, * for multiplication, and / for division. For a square root question, ask it to give you the square root of a number. This is the only math it can do for now.) "Why isn't this chatbot actually AI?" There are many reasons why I decided not to use actual AI for this project. In 2023, I made a chatbot with similar code, but it didn't understand anything beside a few questions. So I decided to create a new and better chatbot, with effort actually put into the project and has a built-in calculator. So.... yeah... it's a rule-based chatbot. Note to Scratch Team: This project does NOT contain any cloud variables. It does NOT save chat history, and you are not chatting with a person, just a Scratch project. This project also does not contain any actual AI like ChatGPT, all the responses are maintained in a response matrix. (Having it speak and understand more than one language is not present here since I've tried it already, and it took Emerald a long time to translate its response to the user's preferred language. By the way, if you've translated this, hopefully you understand.)

August 29, 2026 (v1.0)- Initial Release! This is my biggest project ever! August 30, 2026 (v1.1)- Fixed a small bug involving Emerald not saying how the "repeat ()" and "repeat until ()" blocks work. September 1, 2026 (v1.2)- Added a response for "bye" and any related words. This project can now be found on Zippr too! September 5, 2026 (v1.3)- Added 4 new greeting responses and 4 new Easter eggs. There is now a response for "I am sorry", and it now understands ":D" September 17, 2026 (v1.4)- Added 2 new responses suggested by users September 20, 2026 (v1.5)- Added 6 new Easter eggs and gave Emerald the ability to do square roots!
