Chapter One - When The Blackbird Flies She heard him coming before she saw him. It was a dark night, and Blackbird could hear it. The footsteps of the patrol. She had been hunting for her victim, she had to do it soon. You see, Blackbird was an assassin. She lived in a world of groups of cats. Her entire life revolved around the Peak, a black market hidden in a mountain. Cats from all over could come and hire assassins, buy stolen jewels, whatever. Blackbird had a mission. Kill the brown-eyed cat. Weeks ago, a mysterious cat with frosty eyes had come. He had paid handsomely, yes. One-hundred kagins (dollar) for one cat dead. Most cats only gave her thirty, forty if they were desperate. She set off on the mission. There was a plan. How didn’t she follow the plan? It was simple. The mysterious cat, who went by the name of Frost, with his icy blue eyes, was to travel with her to the border of the Group of The Sun, one of the tribes. She was supposed to kill the cat. In her head, her real plan was to kill Frost. Steal his excess of money, leave the black market, live her life. Simple enough. But then, something wrong happened. Something very wrong. She fell in love. She couldn’t bear to kill him at the end. But it was his plan to kill her all along. She saw the truth. He didn’t trust her, and she shouldn’t have trusted him. It went so wrong so fast. The rogues chased them to the cliff. There was no escape. The rogues, who went by the name of the Skull Tribe, wanted them dead. And when they want you dead, you have no hope. Her brother had died to the skull tribe, and it was an awful death. Blackbird had witnessed it. Frost saved her. Frost died for her. The rogues charged for her. He shoved them off the cliff, but he fell. In the end, he tried to pull her down too. She barely survived. She blacked out for two days after falling , but she was lucky. Everyone else had died. Or so she thought. She pretended she know if it was on purpose or an accident, but deep down, she knew. Blackbird had no problem with this, except it felt her heart was shattered in a million pieces. But of course, she didn’t show that. When she woke up, she looked around at the rogues. She then looted all the bodies. The rogues had a couple of kagins on them, but she didn’t care about that. She wanted Frost’s money. But his body was gone. As if it had disappeared. As if… As if he didn’t really die. END
