TW: Shouting, scary themes I gather my family around the table, my earlier confidence still present, but fading. My play-fight with Lake had given me the confidence to come out to my family. My mum sits down, giving me a confused look. "What's this all about?" I take a deep breath. "I have something to tell you. I'm a therian." My dad frowns. "A...ferrian?" I giggle. "Not quite." I thourghly explain therianthropy and its meaning. An hour later, my dad and mum stand up, with odd looks on their faces. "Okay sweetie, me and your father want to have a little talk now, run along upstairs please honey." I frown. This is not the best reaction. They walk into the hall and I press my ear against the wall as my sisters skip upstairs, not having taken in a word I said. "We need to do something about this." "I agree, she thinks she's an animal! How wierd is that?" "I'll go get her and bring her to the hospital right now."My breath caught in my throat. They thought I was mad. I had to go, now. Dad turned around the corner. "Oh-" Before he could finish, I ran upstairs and bolt my door as he chases me. Black fog pressing against my vision, I take deep breaths and open my gear box, selecting my favorite silver tail and my beautiful lynx mask. I slip them on and choose my black paws, them turn to see my parents bash the door down.
I run. Out the window, jump to the ground, into the forest, far far away until I can't hear them shouting anymore. I sob as I crash into my den and curl onto the wilting moss as the sun sinks beyond the horizon. I can never go back.
