That was the only question on Willowkit's mind after he learnt that his father had died while confined to Urchinclan. 'Why is it that everyone always leaves me behind?' His mother had died before he was old enough to walk, and now his father wouldn't even get to see him become an apprentice. 'Has Starclan forsaken my family?' Willow had heard stories of Starclan's power, the power to prevent death. Was that right? Could they really prevent death? If it was true, then they had chosen to let his parents die. 'That's unacceptable.' Starclan—a place free from illness, where bellies were always full. A place where good cats go when they die. At least, that's what Willow had once thought. 'What gives them the right to decide whether a cat lives or dies?' Now his father was stuck roaming the Dark Forest for all of eternity, with no chance for redemption. Willow knew him as a kind cat that cared deeply about him and his littermates. What could he possibly have done to deserve the fate that was forced upon him? He turned towards the midnight sky, even staring at the shining stars reminded him of his father. Willow felt his claws scrape against the stone beneath him, as rage consumed his soul. Beyond the haze of anger, however, he felt an overwhelming loneliness. 'How do rid myself of these emotions?' He never wanted to feel like this again, but he wasn't sure how to avoid it. Unless, of course, he simply stopped caring. He knew that was easier said than done, though. Willow needed some sort of symbol to remind himself of his resolve. He looked around, searching for anything that might help him remember. Then, his eyes landed on a blackberry bush. 'Perfect.' Willow plucked one of the berries and smashed it underfoot, letting the juice coat his paw. Unsheathing his claws, he drew a heart on his shoulder from the liquid. When he finished, he took a moment to admire his handiwork. This symbol, resembling the pattern his father had, would serve as a constant reminder of who he's lost and how he should behave. 'It's missing something.' Willow used the remaining juice to add two lines striking through the heart. One for his mother, and one for his father. 'This is the last time I'll be alone. I swear it.' •⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⊰∙∘ ࣪☠︎︎ ࣪∘∙⊱⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅•⋅⋅• - Extra - » This is very important for his future lore. » It took quite a while to write this.
