“Why?” one sharp growl asked from the back of the group that had crowded around. “Because if not they will starve!” Mistforest yowled, “Please! Help us! You call yourselves close followers to the Warrior Code, follow part sixteen! ‘Each Pack must help the others so that no Pack will fall’ it says!” “And how in Mistpacks hunting grounds do you know that?” Dawnstar said, no longer angry but, instead, curious, “wait… Mistforest, Mistpack! Do you happen to have a connection to our ancestors?”The Eastpack leader asked more firmly, prying into her. “N…no,” Mistforest wasn't sure how to answer. She shook her head, as if she had water in her ears, “Dawnstar, I believe, I will ask again, for the last time, will you help us? Yes, or, no?” The Eastpack leader gazed at Mistforest, then, with a sharp howl, gathered her pack, “We may be a proud pack, but we do not abandon one another over pride. We will help NorthPack and SouthPack!” She whisked around and leapt onto the high up rocks, “We will help them! Mistforest will lead the way! Now go!” She voided off the rocks and Mistforest set off into the forest. Faster and faster with each pound of her paws, only the best warriors and most energetic apprentices could keep up. As the trees and bushes flashed past her, even Dawnstar was starting to struggle to keep up. Mistforests mind was full of freedom, the wild wind in my fur! Not a race but running my fastest feels good! With the stars in my paws! She slowed to a stop as the edge of the forests grew closer, she called back behind her, “Is everyone here?” Dawnstar and one warrior with an apprentice came over, panting, “How the fluffing Mistpack do you run so fast! Like Mistpack gave you spirit ancestors speed!” Mistforest froze, then took a deep, slightly shaky breath, “I’ll explain later, let's go!” They Broke into the clearness of the top of the gorge, the opening times the right. Mistforest led them to the dusty clearing, “My sister will hopefully be back soon with Westpack.” She explained. Sitting down near the edge of the gorge she called down to the packs, “I got Eastpack!” Dawnstar lashes her golden tail, “For how long do we need to be helping them? They look fine, okay, yes, they're thin, and de-hydrated, but they can get out!” Mistforest stood up, keeping her gaze fixed on the other side of the gorge, a low growl came from her, “Don't question this. The fire led us here, it chased them quickly, but the rocks we pushed down there are still too hot to cross, plus, we risk a pup or elder getting hurt within the remaining flames.”
She nodded, and, with a flick of her tail, she signaled to her warriors and apprentices to hunt and get watered moss. They all ran off in different directions, the apprentices stayed with their mentors though. Tree branches and bushes rustled and twigs snapped as Juniperleaf darted out of the forest. The whole of Westpack was following her, someone further back snarled, “Hey! Get off me, mange pelt!” A flash of amber fur caught Mistforest's eye. She ran over to them, “What's going on?” She demanded, then froze as she saw a fox. Mistforest kept, skilled with practice she pinned the fox flat on its belly. She looked up, eyes locked with the young apprentice who was attacked, “Hello, are you alright?” She looked at him, the small brown wolf was fluffed up, their eyes were wild with fear. He calmed down as they realised Mistforest wasn't going to hurt him, “Y…yes, thanks to you! The warriors were too slow to react.” A beautiful she with a light grey pelt padded out of the trees, her paws and tail-tip a darker colour, grey. She came towards Dawnstar, she was the only one left not out to hunt to get water, “Greetings, Dawnstar.” Her polite note deceived the Eastpack leader into false safety, “Hello, Froststar. Is your pack okay?” Froststar nodded, then quickly padded over to the gorge. Looking over the edge, she saw all of the others, gazing up at her, “We are here, do you need anything right now?” “No, but I think Jaggedpeak needs a drink!” Ivystar howled up, she walked over to the grey spiky warrior, letting him lean on her flank until they both lay on the ground. Froststar bounded over to a group of her warriors, "Go get water, and quickly!” Her gentle and encouraging voice was commanding. Kinkpaw, Leafheart and Minnowpounce, ran off into the forest of pine trees to get water. Froststar turned to face Echosoul and the others, “We will help even if it's no use.” She promised. Juniperleaf looked up, the sky was a foggy grey with the rising moon, “Thank you, but I suggest we go rest, being tired won't be of any use for hunting and gathering.” The prospect of sleep made Ashwind almost curl up and snooze herself right there, I can't rest quite yet though, I still gotta get down there. She stretched and yawned, it's going to be harder to stay awake than to get in the gorge! She sat down and nipped her tail to wake her senses.
