These punches can almost always be evaded. Some can only be dodged in specific ways though. "DODGE HIS PUNCH, THEN COUNTER-PUNCH!" - Generally, once you succesfully dodge an opponent's punch, you can throw your own counter-punch. This usually stuns the opponent, and will allow you to wail on the opponent for quite some time. "GET THROUGH HIS GUARD!" - While the opponent is standing still, you can toss punches where their guard is lacking to get extra hits. "GIVE HIM A FAST UPPERCUT WHEN HE'S STUNNED!" - Landing a punch in certain situations with good timing will net yourself a star. These stars hide immense power, and you can call upon them by pressing C to deliver the powerful star-uppercut! "PUT HIM AWAY!" - Bringing an opponent's vitality to zero will knock them down. Knocking them down three times in one round (or landing a 10-count if you truly wallop them) will award you a victory. "GET UP, MAC!" - Likewise, if your vitality goes to zero, you will get knocked down as well. To get up, you have to rapidly press the punch buttons. Getting knocked down three times in one round, or failing to get up by the count of 10 will award the opponent the victory. These boxing matches take place in 3 rounds, each being three "minutes" long. At the end of each round, you go back to your corner and you can get advice or help from your friendly coach, Doc. At the end of the third round, the referee (who may resemble a certain mustachioed plumber) calls the shots. Whoever he thinks is the better fighter (or briber?) will be victorious.
Welcome to Punch-Out!! The Definitive Master Engine! This project is currently in its early stages, expect some things to not go how you'd expect them to. == CREDITS == @ZappyBarbecue10 for the original Punch-Out!! The Definitive Remake, which this game's precursor was built on. @ThisNameIsTakenByMe for making great sprites. Even though I'm not really using any of them, I will likely use some in the future. Nintendo for creating the Punch-Out!! series and all of its colorful characters.
