A scream comes from Kira’s mouth. No. No. No. This can not be happening. My best friend's THIRTEEN-year-old brother is going in the Hunger Games. Oh my God. I feel sick, my body is light as I fall to the ground, my knees banging to the hard stage floor. I hear screams, cries, yelling, complete chaos. Just then, I hear a voice, everyone goes quiet. “I volunteer. I volunteer as tribute.” a man's voice says. I look up, searching for the guy who saved Pax life. And then I see him. The same boy I locked eyes with earlier, right in the middle of the path, peacekeepers running towards him. Why did he do that? Is he stupid? He walks up with the peacekeepers trailing behind. Miss What's-her-name is flabbergasted and drags me next to him on the stage. He looks unbothered, which is weird when you just volunteered to die, but hey, I can’t judge. “Well, well, well,” she started, this is going to be interesting. “A volunteer! What a surprise! A first in District 6! Boy, what's your name?!” She says, wide-eyed, staring in his poor soul. “Theo,” he says, looking down and rubbing the back of his neck. “Theo Stone.” Huh, where do I know that name from…? I recognize him from somewhere, but where. I close my eyes and try to think, but my thinking was interrupted as this lady screams in the mic. “Our tributes for District 6! Cassandra and Theo!” She starts to clap, but no one else does. They're all too stunned. I can hear Kiras cries all the way up here. I can't move, my body is stiff like a rock, eyes cold. About 30 seconds later, peacekeepers pull us off the stage and in to two rooms to so our last goodbye. I see my mother and walk in, both pale as a ghost. I quickly run up to both of them and wrap my arms around them. We all cry in each other's arms for about 2 whole minutes until they're told to leave.
