Story of Greed island below, cause lots of this would be confusing otherwise! hello... i just finished the Greed Island Arc in Hunter X Hunter again (1999 version this time) and everytime i watch it, i realize just how genius it is, even though its one of the lamer arcs. And every time I watch it, the whole time Im thinking about how it could be a real game!! and thats what Im trying! I want to make it an JRPG, especially like Mother 1... the problem is: somethings in the show don't really translate well into Mother 1 style, especially the fights. The 2 biggest fights and the most famous parts of the whole arc are the Dodgeball game and the Genthru fight, which i think both of these would very hard to translate into a turn base RPG, especially the dodge ball fight. the thing is most other things do translate pretty well. and obviously it would just be a carbon copy of mother one, like the random side quests and stuff i think would be really fun, but are very much not in Mother 1, like the quest for the white king stag card. all you have to do is punch a tree really really hard and you can get the card. and i already drew out and storyboarded some things, but yeah... so basically I either 1. Make it accurate to the show/manga and but make it weird in the game… or 2. Make some parts inaccurate but more fitting to the Mother 1 style…
Spoilers for HxH i guess... basically Gon ( the main Character) is looking for his dad who abandoned him as a kid! and so one day his aunt gave him this Special box from his dad, and the box told Gon to go play the Video game: Greed Island. so gon and Killua (his best friend) look up greed island and its up for auction in York New city!! for minimum of 8.9 Billion Genni (the currency!) so yeah! anyway lots of stuff happens in York New and then Gon and Killua go to the auction, but obviously dont get the game, but they talk to the guy who did buy it, and they ask if they can play the game! so after they show them their powers Gon and Killua and like 20 other people get to play greed island!! it turns out Gons dad just wanted to show off his game, and it had no clues on how to find him, so the whole arc is kinda just Filler Training arc, but it still is really cool. but anyway at the beginning this computery girl explains the game: in greed island you have 2 spells you can use with this magic ring: Book, and Gain. using Book makes your binder apear, this is where you keep your Spell cards, and Specified slot cards. Gain activates or uses the spell card. to win the game, you have to get all 100 specified slot cards. and thats the basics, theres lots of other things, but i don't think they'd really apply in this game. anyway finally into the story: everyone gets in the game and gon, killua, and others are approached by this guy who asks if they want to join his team, so they can finish the game and then everyone will split the 50 billion genni prize. gon and killua refuse and leave this whole time people are talking about this mysterious person named the Bomber, and he can explode people. then it turns out one of the people on that team is the Bomber, his name is Genthru!! and hes put bombs on everyone in the team and He'll only take the bombs off if the team gives all their cards to him. they give him all the cards but then he explodes and K*lls everyone!! so now genthru has 97 specified slot cards. Back to gon and killua, they didn't join the team and then this girl named Bisky is following them, and want to join them, little do they know bisky is a master of Nen (the powers in this world) so bisky shows them shes really powerful and so gon and killua let her join, and then they train with her for like 2-3 months. they all get super powerful and then one of the members of that team tells Gon and Bisky about the bomber, so they know to avoid genthru. genthru only needs 2 cards to win the game (1 of the cards you get after you get 99 other cards) which are the 'Strip of beach' card and the 'Wild blue alexandrite' card, and Gon gets W.B.A. then some people from before learn about where strip of beach is Located to everyone teams up so they can get it before genthru. Strip of beach is in the city, Sofrabi. and is gaurded by a this gang thing idk, to get the card you have to play different sports challenges against different members of the gang, and i think you have to get 8 wins, i think... their team doesn't get 8 wins and doesn't get the card, so they have to make a new team to compete again. the new team is Gon, Killua, Bisky, Hisoka, Goreinu, tsezguerra, and like 3 civilians, (they are just filler teamates) and they have to play dodge ball with the leader of the gang named razor. (also it was shown earlier that Razor is one of the creators of the game, so he knows Gons dad. and Gons dad told him if Gon ever showed up, to not go easy on him. so the game is really hard) anyway they have a very intense dodge ball game, which makes killuas hands very injured... then they get the Strip of Beach card and immediately get a call from genthu telling their team hell k*ll them if they don't give him the card!! so tsezguerra and his team and Goreinu stall genthru and his team for the next 2 weeks so Gon, Killua, and bisky can train/recover. after the 2 weeks is up they have to fight Genthru and his team. killua and bisky fight their guys and win very easily, but gon has to fight genthru, and gets very hurt in the process ( he loses his whole arm!), but the whole fight was planned out by killua and so they trick genthru and win the fight!! Gon heals himself, killua and genthrus friend who got destroyed by bisky. Genthru gives them all the cards so gon has 99 specifed slot cards and then everyone takes a quiz and gon gets the last card, and wins the game. he learns a lot about his dad and then they have a big celebration and that it. WOW holy long!!!
