Once upon a time, there was a kingdom called Seravelle. It was a land of silver towers, beautiful mountains, and clear skies. But every minute of clear skies was borrowed, and it was time to pay the price… ----- Claire Claire strolled through the palace gardens, admiring the clear blue sky. She walked past the statue of the First Queen, pausing to kiss her fingers and lay them over the ancient runes. “For luck.” She whispered, although Claire knew she didn’t need it. Tomorrow, she thought, fingers brushing soft flower petals. Tomorrow, I will be the queen. Smiling elatedly, she turned, skirts whooshing behind her and headed inside. ---- Thalia Thalia ran. She ran to get away, away from all the whispers, the rumors. She stopped, pulling aside a curtain of leaves. She stepped into a clearing, green glass crunching underfoot. Breathing deeply, she stared at the blue sky, savoring the earthy smell of the forest. Tomorrow, she thought, tomorrow it will all be over. Turning, she sprinted back, her boots crushing the grass behind her.
