Controls ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tools ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 Key: Sets the tool to regular bit 2 Key: Sets the tool to power source bit 3 Key: Sets the tool to wire which can be used to link bits and blocks 4 Key: Sets the tool to Not gate bit 5 Key: Sets the tool to lever (levers are blocks) 6 Key: Sets the tool to button (buttons are blocks) 7 Key: Sets the tool to display (displays are blocks) 8 Key: Sets the tool to And gate bit 9 Key: Sets the tool to Xor gate bit Layers ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Right Arrow Key: Sets the Layer to all Up Arrow Key: Changes the Layer by 1 Down Arrow Key: Changes the Layer by -1 O Key: Toggles the Onion Skinning Mode between mode 1, 2, and 3. Mode 1 is the normal mode where the transparency of objects on other layers is 1 - (1 over 2 to the power of (the distance between the current layer and that objects layer)) %. Mode 2 is the same as mode 1 except any objects above the current layer are hidden. Mode 3 just hides anything not on the same layer as the current layer. But of course, if you go to the all layer though, then all of the transparencies are set to 0 and you can see every single object on every single layer regardless of the Onion Skinning Mode. Other ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Space Key: Opens the editor tab to edit the properties of the selected object (press space again to set the properties) E Key: Erases what is selected, if nothing is selected it will erase everything Left Arrow Key: Sets the filter to the selected object (which means you will only be able to select that type of object), if you press the left arrow key again and the same type of object is selected it will toggle the filter between not the type of object that is selected (which means that is the only object you can't select) and the type of object that is selected * Key: Toggles between light mode and dark mode (dark mode is default) ~ Key: Toggles between being able to see the logic and Reset Button while running a construction to not being able to see it ` Key: Toggles between resetting the construction to what it was last saved to (0) and not resetting it to what it was last saved to (1) (Also if it's toggled to a 1 then it will save the construction). You can see what it is toggled to using the 'Save' variable, it will show you weather it's a 1 or a 0 How to Select ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hover your mouse over an object and click it to select that object (you can only select objects if you are on the same layer as them or on the all layer and if the filter says you can), if you decide to drag instead you can move the object around. when creating a wire, if you want to link a block to something else you have to click on the little green or red electric port sticking out. How It Works ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The wires in this project work like Minecraft Redstone, it works like electricity flowing through a wire. Also, it flows from Blue to Red on the wires. If a bit is lit up it means it's on (true), but if it's dark it means it's off (false). The pinkish red not gate bits flip its input to its opposite so from true to false and false to true. How to test your construction ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When you are done creating your construction press the Run button to run your project, if you have levers or buttons then you can click on them while running the construction to use them. And if you want to stop running your project just press the reset button so you can continue to develop your project (if you don't see the reset button, try pressing the ~ Key). Feedback ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you notice any bugs then report them in the comments (and by report I don't mean use the actually report button, just send a message telling me and if you can, explaining how you got the bug) and give me feedback in the comments on anything else that could use improvement, or if you want me to add something, let me know in the comments, If you want to give me feedback on the latest thumbnails visit all of your feedback is very appreciated. If I missed any details let me know in the comments. Thank You.
A brief explanation of Boolean Algebra and Logic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boolean Algebra is simply a different kind of algebra but is still pretty similar to regular Algebra, you still have variables in Boolean Algebra although instead of them taking on any value, Boolean variables can either be a True (⊤) or a False (⊥) which you can abstract to mean 1 or 0, or on or off. And just like in regular Algebra, Boolean Algebra also has operations, although instead of number operations, Boolean Algebra has logical operations and the three most basic ones are, And, Or, and Not. In Boolean Algebra the And operation is represented with ∧, the Or operation is represented with ∨, and the Not operation is represented with ¬. The And and Or operations have two inputs and one output (well technically they can have more inputs, but the basic ones just have two), and the Not operation just has one input and one output. These logical operations take in their inputs and give an output that is either True (⊤) or False (⊥), and since the variables can only be a True (⊤) or False (⊥) we can make a table to show what their outputs will be based on their inputs and that is called a truth table. Here are the truth tables for the And Or and Not operations. Not A | ¬A ⊤ | ⊥ ⊥ | ⊤ Or A | B | A ∨ B ⊥ | ⊥ | ⊥ ⊥ | ⊤ | ⊤ ⊤ | ⊥ | ⊤ ⊤ | ⊤ | ⊤ And A | B | A ∧ B ⊥ | ⊥ | ⊥ ⊥ | ⊤ | ⊥ ⊤ | ⊥ | ⊥ ⊤ | ⊤ | ⊤ As you can see the Not operation just flips the input, the Or operation is true whenever any of the inputs are true, and the And operation is true only when both of the inputs are true. A logic gate is just a circuit that mimics a logical operation like And Or or Not. Now with these logic gates you can make some really amazing stuff like displays that display binary numbers in base 10 to binary adders, in fact computers are made with these logic gates. You can make cool builds like that in this project, if you want an Or gate just combine two or more inputs into one, if you want an And gate just use the special And gate bit (Key 8) to combine two or more inputs into one and if you want a Not gate just put your input into the special Not gate bit (Key 4) and it will flip it (if you have more than one in the Not gate then it acts as a Nor gate or in other words it combines all of its inputs with an or gate and flips the output of that). The default construction in this project is just one example of all of the amazing things you can make with Boolean Logic. Update Log ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ V1: Version 1 brings the very first version of Wires with lots of bugs. This version starts with Bits, Not Gates, and Power Source Bits. V2: Version 2 brings bug fixes, better graphics, dark mode, logic hiding, and the addition of Levers, Displays and Buttons, with Buttons having delays. V2.25: Version 2.25 brings a Thumbnail, bug fixes, Layers and Filters to make it easier to create stuff, and delays to the Not Gate Bits, Bits, and Displays. Also, now when you select an object it brings that object to the top of that layer, so it is drawn in front of the other objects. This version also adds Onion Skinning. V2.4: Version 2.4 brings, more Onion Skinning Modes, highlighting the selected object, Faster updates with an entirely new powering method, the ability to set a bit to a power source, bug fixes, And Gate Bits, Xor Gate Bits, and the ability to save whatever is running so it doesn't reset it to what it used to be when you stop running your construction. Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: Most editor controls don't apply while running your construct, only the ~ key, * key, and ` key. Note: For best results and easiest use, I recommend using the latest version of Wires. Note: The default construct is a very simple example of what you can do, it takes your 4-bit binary input and uses a decoder to decode it into one line that goes into an encoder which is the display. The 3x5 display displays your 4-bit binary number in Hexadecimal. Note: Sometimes the project might run a bit slow and laggy, so I recommend running it on TurboWarp if it runs slow. https://turbowarp.org/1188725814 Note: This project uses 182 Scripts and 7 sprites.
