Aphrodite padded along the tree line as the wind blew chilly air, sweeping up the autumn leaves. As she trotted along she spotted movement in the distance. ‘Another dragon?’ She thought hopefully. She hasn’t seen a living being for days. Even the trees wilted and seemed lifeless. She’s been starving and only surviving on nuts and mostly dried up ponds. If she was lucky, she could get a frog, but those do not taste good. She paced towards the shape and called out “hello?” Her voiced was dry and hoarse with dehydration. Her scales were dimming from being stuck in the blazing heat, the sun seeming to suck all her bright colors to dull lifeless ones. Lifeless, like everything around her. The shadow perked its head up. Then, the shape darted behind trees. Without thinking, Aphrodite dashed after the shape calling, “wait! I won’t hurt you!” The shape slowed then, and turned to look at her. It was a dragon, and it wasn’t black from the setting sun or from being far away, it was pure pitch black. “8>]¥]4_]]4{¥8”. “What?” She asked. This dragon spoke no language she heard of, but somehow it heard her and understood what she had said. “Oh. You don’t speak that language” it said. “What are you doing here? Do you know how to escape? This forest is endless except for the fields beyond the tree line. How long have you been here? Are there others?” She questioned. She was desperate to get back home. And desperate for an answer to where she was. “Slow down. I’m as cunfused as you are. But yes, there are others.” Up close, Aphrodite realized that he was male. His black scales had flecks of purple and grey though, and his eyes were also black, with a ring of piercing blue that tracked Aphrodite as she paced. She saw an odd glowing shape. “Hey.. do you see that?” She asked the black dragon, but she got no response. She turned. He was gone. “H- Hello? Where did you go?” She asked nervously. She saw a tail disappear through the glowing thing. She dashed over to it, and warily stuck her talons through, and felt something yank her. She fell through whatever it was and was caught in memories. Memories she forgot, like who she really was, where she lived, who her parents were, but the memory of getting here was the one that was the hardest to see again. Claws. Lifeless bodies limp and cold in her talons. Her and her sister, watching a creature leave. Remembering hiding from everyone, just her and her sister alone, then the odd dragon found them. He was a dark grey and a kind male. The slightly lighter grey and purple flecks along his spine. His wings vast and speckled with gold, orange, and purple. Then he said that he would kill her sister, or Aphrodite would have to go with him. She agreed and he took her far away, flying through a storm to get there. But the storm took her out of the sky, and she fell into the raging sea below. The dragon, who’s name was Void, had dove down to save her instead of letting her d13. She was barely conscious since she had hit her head on a rock, but she was on a wooden board that Void carried her on. She remembered him trying to shove her through a portal, and she grabbed his tail when he got her through enough that it tugged her down. He was falling, she was falling, and everything was black. She woke up with the dragon she encountered earlier who she now recognized as Void. She growled. “You.” “What about me?” He asked in an annoyed tone. “YOU TOOK EVERYTHING! MY SISTER, MY MEMORIES, MY HOME!” “I took everything from YOU?” He snapped back. “I was supposed to be out there! You dragged me in here, and I can’t get out unless-“ he paused suddenly and then grinned wickedly. “I can be free… Now that your here.” Aphrodite was about to ask how, but he beat her with the answer. “Your power is just what I need.” “I don’t have any powers.” She growled. “You sure? Cause your eyes have done things, and I saw it. You could k1ll me right here, if you knew how to use your abilities. But that’s why your wearing this from now on.” He tugged something from under his wing and wrapped it over her eyes. She tried to yank it off, but that hurt her claws. “What is this?” She roared, standing to her feet and throwing her wings out and lashing her tail. Aphrodite stormed out of the den, growling under her breath. She knew that her eyes might harm someone in this mood, so she went to the forest. She fought back tears, but they were going to rush out soon enough. She remembered what Void said earlier. He said that his father k1lled them. It seems likely. Void wouldn’t hurt her, even if he wanted to. And then he said that he k1lled his own father for it. She knew that she hated him, but it pains her to see Void do that. Void didn’t want to, even if he wasn’t close to his father. He also brought back my sister. And that she can’t be sad about. She’s safe and happy now. What Aphrodite is mad about is the fact that her parents weren’t even hers. They were random dragons who decided to steal our eggs. And that means Void +)
(+ k1lled his father for getting rid of those criminals. Who happened to be two dragons that stole eggs, pretended to be their parents, and then throw them in a pit. Some dragons also offer their eggs to them. She wondered why they did that. She wondered why the dragon couple wanted to do that to innocent baby dragons. But worse, Void was sad, and Lilac, her own sister, was always comforting him. Maybe she didn’t know. Didn’t understand. But if Aphrodite told her, she’d be heartbroken.
