GENDER: Male STATUS: Dead(?) ALIGNMENT: Evil THEME: "Come Wayward Souls" - By The Blasting Company ABOUT: The Beast is a tall creature that lurks in The Unknown. He is always incased in shadow, has glowing white eyes, a cloak, and long antlers. He sometimes carries his own lantern, but mainly has other people carry it for him. He is deceptive and malicious. (SPOILERS FOR OVER THE GARDEN WALL BEYOND THIS POINT!) He mainly hunts for lost souls far from home who are losing hope, and lurks in wait in the hopes the soul gives up. When the soul's will has spoiled, he turns them into an edelwood tree to have others process into oil and use to keep his lantern lit. He of course cannot process the oil by himself, so he relies on deceiving others with the promise of keeping their loved one's soul safe in his lantern if the person keeps his lantern lit, such as with the Woodman and the promise of keeping his daughter's soul lit. Do not ever believe his lies. He met his presumed demise while he was attempting to make Wirt and Greg lose hope of ever getting home, only for Wirt to realize the true nature of the Beast's lantern being that it carried his soul instead. Wirt realized this after the Beast attempted to promise Wirt that his little brother's soul would be kept safe in the lantern. Afterwards, the Woodsman was the one to put out the flame in the Lantern, presumably killing the Beast and setting Wirt and Greg free from the Unknown.
