UrchinClan ---- History ---- UrchinClan, a Clan created in the aftermath of the second Cloudedglade event, risen up by the Dark Forest in response to a suspicious, uncaring attitude of StarClan. A deal. In the absence of the help of StarClan, the living will have access to the gifts and blessings of the dead, so long as those same dead are respected and revered. Ten cats were selected amongst MossClan and FlurryClan into the Dark Forest in order to compete to find the one most suitable for leadership. Leaders must ensure most of their adult warriors will end up in the Dark Forest, else the Dark Forest will strip them of their title and appoint someone else. ---- Territory Description ---- UrchinClan is situated on a rocky beach area that was previously used during a fire that struck the Clans. There are few stretches of pure sand, so one must learn to boulder to navigate quickly and effectively. Although on a nice day, the ocean is calm and wonderful to play in, the tides can be deceptively strong and incredibly dangerous. As the Clan is still very new, and most are not situated to the ocean, many avoid it altogether. It is not a tropical paradise. The beach is often cold and miserable, but luckily, due to this and it's countless rocks, twolegs scarcely visit. The camp sits at the edge of where the terrain begins to grow higher above the beach, giving a wonderful view of the ocean without actually being a flood risk. Curiously, ancient signs of cats reside all around. Paw prints forever fossilized within the ground, kitten scritches in the rocks, ancient fragile bones of prey from long ago... Although rains and storms are miserable, due to significant flood-risk of the camp most of the 'dens' aren't dens at all- and are simply outdoors. There are a few sections of camp where a covered den is possible, but due to space this only allows for the nursery and medic den. Particularly vulnerable elders may also sleep in one of those two dens as well, depending on availability of nests and room. Due to UrchinClan's sea being a vast inland sea, it actually freezes over in leaf-bare. This season brings the highest concentration of bears to the ice, and the cats can attempt take advantage of their leftover sealholes for their own hunting attempts. Even still, the cats aren't built very well for being on ice, nor in the frigid seawater, so they typically find other things to hunt during this season. Common predators are coyotes, foxes, and seals. Sea otters are a common sighting as well. UrchinClan does have rarer predators, but these are far more dangerous. They have both aggressive dolphins for those who venture too far into the waters, and, as mentioned, bears in the colder seasons. Both of these animals should be avoided at all cost, regardless of how big one's ego is. ---- Cat Descriptions ---- [ these are simply typical traits, and by no means are neccessary. in no circumstance should these traits be used to mock a cat for being too little or too much looking like a certain clan or group ] UrchinClan has two distinct builds of cats because they have two different hunting techniques. Kits look more similar to each other, but once they are apprentices they are trained on the technique that is most likely to fit them the best based on a variety of factors, as well as their choice, and they stick with that one technique their entire lives. Almost all UrchinClan cats have large paws, and most have long claws. One build will favor running and leaping after seabirds and gulls. It's for speed, agility, and jumping, though also works well when quickly digging after smaller crabs within the sand. They are usually taller, thinner, with long powerful legs. And the other is all about power and diving. Unlike in a lake, the sea is extremely difficult to swim safely. They are large, bulky, with a higher bite force. Most apprentices with higher webbing in their paws or more water-repellant fur are also recommended this category. While pelt color varies, there is a strong tendancy for the color to be dilluted. This causes a lot of gray, blue, lavender, fawn, and cream cats. Additionally, many UrchinClan cats tend to have lighter colored underbellies, regardless of their pelt color. In death, previous UrchinClan cats, particularly those incredibly loyal to UrchinClan, often exhibit a red, tan, or blue color for their ghost color. ---- Behaviors ---- With the goal to get as many as possible into the Dark Forest, they are most relaxed on rules of violence, though it varies from leader to leader. Strictly, however, apprentices and kits are left out of the Dark Forest, and are not told of the Clan's alliance until they are adults and may choose for themselves what they want. This autonomy and agency is vital to the Clan's workings and is sacred. All those loyal to the Dark Forest must be there because they chose to be there, when they were old enough to decide. Not because they were raised into it.
While the initial goals and values of this Clan followed those of secrecy and privacy, these tendencies have long since been tossed aside. In the present, it is all about championship and achievement. As a result of not being expected to feel shame over a crime, cats have begun to flaunt them wildly, and applaud and revere others 'achievements' as well. The Clan initially stood to prevent tyrants, but now the tyrants have taken it for their very own. Those with battle-born claws run the Clan, while the rest are left to their mercy, of which UrchinClan has little. The trait most valued in this Clan is dignity. UrchinClan cats hate scorn or shame more than anything, for they feel their actions should be shameless, without judgement from prying eyes. They hold themselves in a high regard, to view themselves as better than those who follow StarClan blindly, and instead fight for something that deserves to be fought. Please do not assume all crimes are allowed- this highly depends on the leader and the leader's morals. If the leader deems it, punishment may still follow crime. ---- Skills ---- Diving is a highly prized skill in this Clan. The waters of the ocean are much more difficult to swim in than a river or lake, but it's a wonderful source of food and resources. A wrong current could sweep you out forever, never letting you return. This is a highly dangerous pursuit, but highly rewarded. Bouldering is another skill these cats often have, or try to gain, due to the high density of rock formations on their territory, which leads to more versatility in their movements. Bouldering competitions are sometimes held at notoriously difficult locations. Digging is an uncommon, but great skill. Unlike MossClan, it's not for den-making, but instead quick burrows in the sand for crustaceans, as they will escape quickly if you're not careful. Efficiently being able to dig up prey is highly appreciated. On a good day, a warrior may perhaps even indulge in making a sculpture of the sand. The apprentices in this Clan love exploring the tide pools and finding all the sea creatures they can. -- SPECIAL RULES: Any adult in this Clan can attack another adult warrior in the Clan without asking OORP first. Be warned and be wary. Elders, kits, medics, and apprentices are excluded from this rule. Please have an INRP reason. You have to roleplay with them once the victim once before, and THEN you have to be in an active roleplay with them to initiate this rule i.e. you have to do TWO roleplays with them to attack them. thank u If someone is actively refusing to roleplay with you specifically when you have a good INRP reason to attack them then you can plead your case to the hr admin please be fair and reasonable when using the uc battle rule, and please only be in urchinclan if you are able to emotionally handle the battle rule. its a balance that has the potential to be fun but if its misused its. unfun. ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC RULES FOR ATTACKING EACH OTHER -- 1) do not hold the idea of attacking someone else's character over someone else's head as a way to harass, threaten, bother, or scare them. this should be obvious. 2) you can't attack the other person again over and over until they die. FOR ATTACKING A LEADER (this goes for every clan): - you may gather a group of people in order to attack, but they all have to be different people. if the leader dies, though, the deputy would take leader as usual. 3) if you ASK the other person OORP first whether they want to be attacked, if they say no you cant. attack them. that's just rude loll "hey can i attack you?" "no pls!" "okay lol im gonna do it anyways!" -- YOU HAVE TO ALERT THE OTHER PERSON YOU'RE ATTACKING THEM. 4) I ENCOURAGE ALL URCHINCLAN CATS TO EXPERIMENT WITH THIS RULE ... it is a fun one! I [ disclaimer this section mentions attacking. other characters this is for a roleplay based on warrior cats the childrens book series do not attack other people thanks scratch ] don't want anyone to have to feel bad about attacking another persons character! BUT. you HAVE to respect other roleplayers! a fair, reasonable fight where everyone involved is well-informed about it and ready for the results,, with a solid inrp context for doing so, is the best way this rule is fun -- Although their goal is ultimately to get into the Dark Forest, if they have done nothing Dark Forest worthy within their life, they still automatically go to StarClan or Shade. You still have to commit a crime to go to the Dark Forest. music is Bioluminescence, Midnight Dunes, Tide Pools, and Ice Dancing by Tobi Walker
