The first part of the Back/Story. Please tell me if you like it. I have a lot planned for if I win Bugs. I had this whole story already planned, but Bugs fit for some reason. Name: Bugs Age: 23 Gender: Irrelevant Species: Sobling ~~~~~~~~~Paralysis by Rigor_Mortis_Draws~~~~~~~~~ Bugs' back shivered as they trod upon the damp moss. The forest lay chilly beneath a blanket of mist and fog. Dew drops twinkled like jewels upon blades of grass and leaves, sunlight bouncing off them. Bugs' friend, Dragon, stepped lightly beside them, long triangular ears twitching at distant birdcalls and rustling animals. Dragon sighed. "Why did I agree to come out here with you?" Dragon cut a tall, slender figure, his frame enveloped by a pale blue, oversized shirt adorned with a vivid green dragon breathing fire—an attire he found "very creative." His ashy green shorts, tall, mismatched striped socks, and slightly oversized shoes completed his eccentric ensemble. His wild, jet-black hair stood in untamed spikes, partially concealed beneath a black and blue striped beanie, while tall, triangular ears with tufts on their tips added to his distinctive appearance. A short, thick tail, lined with spikes and tipped with a diamond-shaped spike, trailed behind him as he moved. Despite his striking appearance, Dragon's face, a pale blue hue, remained impassive. Two equally pale, dark green circles adorned the areas beside his fanged mouth. His dark blue eyes, barely visible beneath the veil of thick hair covering the upper half of his face, betrayed no hint of allure. Dragon had decided to join Bugs for their semi-weekly resource collecting in the forest, affectionately dubbed The Shadowwood Fen. Bugs owns a shop that sells healing products to assist ill patients suffering from extreme injuries or ailments caused by unnatural circumstances. Their products, requiring rare herbs and other organic materials, always sold out quickly. "Because you love having me as a friend?" Bugs replied softly in a questioning tone. The pair pressed on into the maze of redwoods, where large, dark trees loomed overhead. Bugs's antennae twitched, trying to pick up any trace of danger as their bag, full of jars, clinked as it bounced on their hip. Bugs felt the underbrush under their long segmented tail as it dragged behind them. Dragon bumped Bugs' shoulder and pointed at a fallen log draped in moss and mushrooms. Bugs approached it, their paws fiddling with jars and tweezers. As soon as Dragon gently rolled the log over, Bugs got to work, kneeling to collect any beetles, arachnids, or isopods they could find. Bugs called Dragon over to show him a Western Fire Centipede. "It looks like your tail, Bugs!" he exclaimed. Bugs chuckled, swishing around their long orange tail. Looking up, they soaked their face in a warm sunbeam leaking through the dark green canopy. Turning back to forage in their bag, they retrieved some dry lavender and sprinkled it into the jars full of insects. Then, in a deep voice, they whispered the incantation, Somnus Insectum. The bustling insects almost instantaneously froze in place. Bugs put the jars back in their bag. "It's always super spooky when you do something like that," Dragon chuckled nervously. "It's the best I can do right now; I forgot my book back at the shop," Bugs said smoothly, pausing for a second. "And just to clarify, my spells aren't 'spooky' like you think," they added, their tone tinged with annoyance. Bugs sat up and continued walking further into the forest with Dragon. Later, Bugs had three jars full of incapacitated insects and other creepy crawlies to sort through in their shop. Bugs took their time to the shop, Dragon still tagging along. Their dark paws left imprints in the moss carpeting the stone-tiled road. Bugs peeked into the bakery along the way, inhaling the sweet and yeasty aromas wafting through the door and windows. Dragon interrupted Bugs's mindless, gluttonous thoughts. "Should we grab some lunch before we head back?" he questioned Bugs. "No, we have to drop these little guys off before they suffocate," Bugs remarked. "We can get something to eat after, though," they added. Dragon huffed out an "All right, I guess," before dragging along beside Bugs. Upon finally arriving at Bugs's shop called The Chrysalis, Dragon and Bugs wearily entered.
