How to Move Sprites Anywhere Scratch doesn't allow you to move sprites off the screen. However, with this very simple trick, you can bypass that limitation, and literally send your sprites to Infinity (and beyond)! A 0x0 costume is allowed to set its size to anything equal to or greater than 100, all the way up to Infinity. Setting the size to Infinity allows the sprite to move freely between negative and positive Infinity on both axes, rather than being contained within the boundaries of the stage. You are then free to set the size and costume to anything you want, it will stay. Note again that a 0x0 costume cannot set its size to less than 100. So, all steps required to move to any x/y position are: - Set costume to 0x0 - Copy the word "Infinity" to your clipboard, then grab a set size block and paste Infinity into the block - Move to the desired position - Set costume and size to what it was before, or something else (optional) This can all be done in ONE custom block, see inside to backpack it. Why does this work? Scratch tries to keep a certain amount of pixels of each sprite within the boundaries of the stage. This is called fencing, and it happens ONLY when a block is used which changes the sprite position. A size with "Infinity" tells Scratch: "Hey, I am infinitely big, so no matter where I am, I will technically always be on the stage." Scratch does not fence the sprite, because it always meets the requirement of being on the stage. Change costume/size blocks don't trigger fencing, so the sprite will stay where it is. You can give me credit if you want, but it's not required :) Tags: #tutorial #fencing #infinity Thumbnail background image source: https://wallpapers.com/wallpapers/interactive-hyper-speed-0kpjx6zrd5zr09pn.html
